How would you sell NFL tickets?
 

My son was gifted some tickets an a parking pass to the Houston Texans vs Tennessee Titan's game on Nov 26. They are from a season ticket holder with a parking pass and are apparently, really good club seats. He doesn't want to use them and instead wants to sell them. (the money would be much more useful). How would you go about it?

I've spoken to some other folks that I know who said the NFL ticket exchange which is through ticketmaster, and another said he's had good luck with craigslist. Anyone got any pointers? I never go to that sort of thing, so I have no idea.

I have heard stubhub, but any concerns about a having a stranger show up in place of your son or are these random gift tickets by someone not close?

I've sold Bears tickets on the NFL ticket exchange(ticketmaster), or thru Stub Hub. By selling the tickets to someone that you don't know, you risk loosing the whole season, if they behave badly. IE smoking, fighting, swearing ETC. All teams now have an anonymous text # for bad behavior. Security will remove the problem people.
I know people who have lost their whole season, after selling pre season games on craigslist. No refunds, no hearing. Tickets revoked. Of course, the team will then resell the seats. One person donated the tickets to a charity auction, he also lost his season.


Selling tickets that were given to him is pretty shady. What if the ticket owner finds out the tickets were sold?

I'd suggest returning the tix, with a gracious thank you, and let them go to someone else.

But, if he sells them, that appears to be Monday Night Football, against a major rival team, so they should go for a premium. And, the Texans will be, what, 2-9 by then? ;)

Yeah, what's his response going to be when the gifter asks him "how was the game?"

I've been gifted tons of tickets from friends / vendors over the years.

Either used them or passed them forward, never sold them.

No offense, just does not feel right to sell them.

+1 on the above comments. Not cool to sell gifted tix to a stranger. Pass them along, sell them to someone who you know will behave, or return.

Given this information I would expect there to be a clear path to walk here.

Selling season tickets to the wrong folks can have some serious repercussions.

When I was working our company had season ticket to the Giants and we gave some tickets to some (good)?? customers who turned around and gave them to some misbehaving youth. The kids all proceeded to get drunk and smoke some pot at the seats. Management gave us a pretty serious reprimand over the situation.

We didn't lose the passes but were told under no uncertain terms not to allow this to happen again.

Unless the season ticket holder said "use them, sell them, whatever" they need to be returned. My oldest is a season ticket holder with the Seahawks. They frequently sell or gift their tickets but need to be very careful who they go to or how they are sold based on the agreement they signed. She's gotten burned gifting them before and rarely does that now.

If it is the pre-season game, it will be difficult to sell them.

I used NFL Ticket Exchange, but I was the seat/license holder. I don't think it would be easy to sell gifted tickets that way.

Craigslist - sure. If you don't get robbed and killed.

Thanks, everyone. My first thought was the same "you don't sell a gift" because it's rude, but if I'd said that, it would have probably caused a little rebellion. The good news is that he'd decided not to sell to a stranger on his own.

This was apparently tickets gifted to the restaurant chain by a vendor what were there distributed.

Since it's the NFL I'd unceremoniously burn the tickets.

Then definitely DO NOT sell them if there will be coworkers in the suite at the same time.
