A good source of spare/donor parts. The guy I mean.

flatbutt 08-23-2018 04:51 PM

WTF? Seriously how could that ever be considered a good idea?

Gogar 08-23-2018 05:52 PM

"Babe! Look! I'm on TV!!"

America

Me tooo!

(except this guy didn't seem to be looking for the attention).

I always recommend shirtless riders bury their fists into a spinning 80 grit belt sander, or jump out of the passenger car door at highway speed just for practice before getting on a bike.

This guy didn't deserve what he got but man, it shows you never know when you will need your gear.

What caused the high speed wobble or tank slapper is it?

Just bad luck and harmonics?

Yeah, there has been an ongoing class-action lawsuit regarding such. In each and every case wherein some rider has crashed in this manner, it has been discovered that he had vastly over-loaded the rear of the bike by stuffing the saddlebags full and adding additional luggage on top of that. Add under-inflated tires, worn swingarm and/or rear axle bearings, worn steering head bearings, worn shocks and forks, etc., and we have a recipe for disaster. Not the riders' fault, though - it must be poor engineering.

Notice how much worse it got when grabbed the other bar firmly

As far as overloading, I drove this thing like a sport bike AND a motocross bike for30,000kms last year doing 120km/hr over both mud and paved highways and it was perfectly stable

...but, I also wore good protective gear

The only thing I don't care for is when you get into thicker mud it plugs up in the fender when it is that close to the wheel and the wheel can't turn.

man that is a great video for selling protective gear! hurts like hell just to watch it!

Wayner that looks like fun! been getting the bug again lately and have watched many great travel videos on youtube with the GS. Missendon Flyer is a great one to kill some time with.

Brent, I agree!:D

Baretta, immlooking into the seagull century ride
Crazy how I’ll wear 100lbs of gear on a motorcycle but how fast I’m willing to go on a bicycle wearing a thin layer of Lycra :)

I've been lazy about biking this year....if you're gonna do the seagull i'll start training now so I can ride it myself and be just as hungry afterwards!

def let me know if you're gonna ride it. we can do steamed crabs or true bbq ribs or both!

wayner 08-24-2018 08:05 AM

I haven’t been riding since my big ride in June, so we may be well paced for each other

vash 08-24-2018 08:15 AM

i'm not watching that video.

i am trying to heal a strawberry on my knee. i mtn bike and i wear knee pads now. first time i wore the pads, the pedaling action was like a slow sanding action on the wound. the skin is way less durable. after the ride, i look down and i am bleeding again. the pad wore down the new skin.

the pain was that night. had to start over again with ointment and bandaides.

i'd rather cut myself and have to get stitches. anyday.

berettafan 08-24-2018 08:17 AM

No worries on pace, we can certainly get together after! I’m slow as hell on a good day!
