Sam, I can feel the love

I have bought plenty of stuff from ECS before the Pelican acquisition.

Dub and Beemer parts.

No issues, including a parts mix up on a 3 series windshield cowl. Maybe three tries at the right part. They came clean.

They are in Ohio maybe 19 miles from me. I drove to their parking lot, got a rep on the phone. "Dude, I just need a frammitz valve for this car NOW" "Sorry Bro, can't do it." "I'm here, in your farking front lot" "I know, Man. You have the maroon Passat. I see you. Can't do it"

That's the extent of my frustration. They don't do counter sales. Could be worse. Part was there (at shop) the next day primarily because of favorable proximity.

Pretty sure I have a spare frammitz valve i can let you have, PM me. ;)

Wonder how many read this and say huh?

Frammitz Valve and Kermit Palzer (fictional car parts, no duh). Stolen from early 80's Mad Magazine.

I can't remember the exact part I wanted to be honest but they still told me to hit the road.

We grew up with PP so to speak.
PP was personal, friendly, familiar. Part of the gang. I remember seeing Wayne at the Pomona swap meet, at dunkles, or the festival of speed and saying Hey Wayne, how you doing? He'd say hey turbo dude, how are you? Are you still selling those targa seals?

We considered him our friend and he treated us that way. And we generally returned the favor.

Where there was a problem, PP tried hard to fix it fast.
And as a result of all that, people beotching and complaining about PP was discouraged, not cool.
and in most cases not justified.

Why do I bring this up? Because the new owners could learn from that. Becoming a faceless corporation will kill that relationship. Chris and Eric do a pretty good job on this forum but pelican needs to be part of the car scene, have something in common with it's customers and make sure that is obvious. SELL THAT FACT!
Solve customer service problems and SELL THAT!

Have your customers praising you and protecting you, not throwing you to the wolves. If it gets bad enough to become critical mass and tip the scales, there will be a dog-pile. I've seen em do it.
But that's just my opinion and worth everything you paid for it.
It's your biddness, do what you want.

For better or for worse, Wayne was the face of Pelican. Who else managed to take 100's of pics and post them? Wayne is a fantastic business man who can be rather difficult at times but he does have the Porsche and Bimmer passion. That certainly can't be said of a lot of business owners about their product.

Wayne will be back and I really wonder what's up his sleeve. I bet he's had an itch for longer than we might have thought.

-I see this post with it's criticism is still up for all to see.
-OT/PARF mods are real humans and pretty cool but maybe never become quite as cool as da man Nostatic.
-There are still a few unfixed BBS glitches which seem to be getting worse (no forum .png upload, and some pic embedding breaking entire page, and remaining logged in cookies) but otherwise Midwest represent!

Hope you are onto good new things Wayne, and thank you.
