MNF has sunk to a new low

I used to watch during the years, but now they have that " fingers on the chalkboard" women that I can't stand. She did college but was a bust, now on mnf. Oh god, please tell me this won't go on.

masraum 09-10-2018 06:21 PM

Mnf?

strupgolf 09-10-2018 06:25 PM

Monday night football.

masraum 09-10-2018 06:29 PM

I was thinking a particular person, and wondering "Morgan _____ Freeman", "Morgan ______ Fairchild", ....

hahahah

I know exactly who you are talking about.... no can do. Who green lighted her?

Most of the MNF audience is older males who really don't want to hear a female "expert" who has never played the game, unless it is from the sidelines in a support role.

I will turn off a broadcast if the announcer is female (especially butch sounding).

The only support role an older males wants is if she is doing the split on the sideline.

astrochex 09-11-2018 03:18 AM

Watched the game with the volume off. Worked for me!

onewhippedpuppy 09-11-2018 03:40 AM

Agreed, drives me nuts! I like an announcer that has true perspective on the game of football, not someone who has been a lifelong spectator. PC movement hard at work.

Seahawk 09-11-2018 03:57 AM

I don't mind a woman broadcaster (most of the play by play folks never played) at all, but this one?

It is her voice!

It is at an octave and treble that makes dogs leave the room.

“Female voices are seen, on average, as less intelligent than male voices,” noted Nass,

tdw28210 09-11-2018 05:32 AM

OP probably doesn't like the NFL's new male cheerleaders either. ; )

VincentVega 09-11-2018 05:40 AM

just the first week, she'll be back to college next week

She knows the game

sammyg2 09-11-2018 05:43 AM

Her voice is horrible, I'm glad I didn't watch the game.

Schrup 09-11-2018 08:53 AM

Brian Griese was terrible especially after Stafford got speared by a defenders helmet & briefly left the game. He said it was a good hit. She very mildly disagreed, but the hit was a shining example of what the NFL is trying to get out of the game. I almost felt sorry for Patricia, that was as ugly as it gets for an opener at home.

Tobra 09-11-2018 09:10 AM

Is that show still on?

ckissick 09-11-2018 11:51 AM

I watched with the sound off and playing the guitar. I had a good time.

gatotom 09-11-2018 01:25 PM

reminds me of that soccer announcer when a team scores a goal, hi pitched GGGGOOOOAAALLL

Scott Douglas 09-11-2018 01:35 PM

The OP title is what I thought when I turned the game on and heard the announcers.
So nasal sounding and a lot of the time you couldn't even hear them because of the back ground noise.
The second game was not quite as bad. At least Witten has recent experience but his newness to the booth really showed IMO.

that wouldn't work for me.
Her fingernails on the chalkboard voice still sounds better than my guitar playing.

biosurfer1 09-12-2018 08:35 AM

I agree, very annoying voice. Even my wife who couldn't care less about football was surprised to hear her, followed by a "she has an annoying voice" comment.

Luckily she isn't the regular commentator. I think she was just there because there was two games on for the opening MNF.

esample 09-12-2018 08:43 AM

I like to adjust the balance on my surrounds so I get the nat sound in the rears and announcers very low (or off) in fronts.

Why were there 2 MNF games? Is that going to be a regular thing?

I couldn't hear anything over my 3 kids, anyway.

VincentVega 09-12-2018 11:33 AM

Been the standard opening week for a few years now. On earlier, one later.

SCadaddle 09-22-2018 07:57 PM

Wow. ESPN turned the lady loose with an SEC Football game tonight.

javadog 09-23-2018 05:48 AM

I don't watch Monday night football, so I had to check out a video of hers on the net. I don't find her voice annoying at all, I'm not sure what the fuss is about.

URY914 09-23-2018 07:11 AM

Is someone going to give up her name or a link or something? You're killin me here...

Exactly what I was thinking, people still actually watch pro football?

People (such as myself) still do, and watch things that are politically incorrect, regardless of the huge Facebook backlash. Look forward to watching the Browns, and the Steelers every week, not concerned whatsoever with what people think.

The latest kneeling was one of many reasons I don’t watch. The over zealous celebrations after a guy catches a 10 yard pass my 85 yr old dad could have caught.
How about the brain injuries? Ever seen the X-ray of a 35 yr old guy that played center in pop warner, high school and college? Looks like a 70 yr old riddled with osteoarthritis.

Some football players could learn a lesson on class, grace and being humble from pro tennis players, Nadal and Federer.

I’m glad you are enjoying “your” sport. Today’s your day!
Tim

The problem with Ms. Mowins is that she seems to think an announcer needs to sound a certain way and, presumably though lots of practice, has developed a style that amounts to a veritable caricature of over-the-top sportscasting. A come-to-real-life Harry Doyle, if you will.

onewhippedpuppy 09-23-2018 10:39 PM

Considering the recent stupidity related to Serena, maybe citing a sport other than tennis for your example of class would be more appropriate?

Her affectations kinda remind me of some radio DJ's from the 60s-90s.

Close your eyes and imagine hearing, "Up next on the platter, we have the one and only... Curtis Mayfield and the Mighty Impressions..."

Sometimes I find her difficult to listen to and turn off the sound... other times, it doesn't bother me.

She's livin' her dream... I'm gonna let her have it and I'm not gonna complain about it.

No guilt here, they choose that life, and I watch/cheer them. Many members of my extended family have played, and are playing high school/college football.

What exactly is "Your sport" ? You mentioned Tennis, so you agree with the way Serena handled herself ?

URY914 09-24-2018 03:45 AM

Youtube link no work. NFL shut it down.

...indeed, and it's never been a shining example in my lifetime....from country club brats, to McEnroe, Nasty (Illie?), and more racket slamming examples than I can recall :(.

Of course, they are the exception....just like in pro football. Don't give a rat's butt about the antics...I just like football...played at a level I just can't comprehend....better than ever :)
