Micro-manager. Haha. I hate him.

My boss put on his micro manager hat. My fault completely.

We are giving a training. Coworker and I took it upon ourselves to come up with a couple of hands on class workshops. Coworker said, “all the stuff is in my garage, should we meet there?”

I screw up and say, “nah, meet at my office”.

We were chugging along productively when my (usually cool as hell) boss shows up. Around 9am. First, we are better versed at the topic than he is. ( ones that can’t do....lead - something like That). He just took over. Before I knew it we were filming a how-to video on an iPad! Hahaha. Btw, I was the “hand model”!

It was all pretty good and sorta fun, but we barely got our workshop complete.

At the end he wanted one more video. One showing the entire process. I didn’t want to do it, because I KNOW that was a waste of time. It’s like teaching a kid to ride a bike and THEN riding the bike past him to show him what it looks like. Useless.

Now? I need to go and do some work this weekend because we blew my entire day doing video takes. :). What should have taken two- four hours ended up being closer to ten. AND!! He had a breakfast meeting, so he ate and was full....we were HANGRY by noon.

I’ll put up a link if they show up on YouTube. The thing is funny bad.

We have an out of state player in our organization that treats everyone like we work for him. Making VERY rude demands of people, "I need you to join this meeting right now!"....except that he is not our boss, and we have no obligation to do squat for him. Things are getting acrimonious. Everyone has started ignoring him, and boy he doesn't like that.

They never do.

As a small, growing company we push a lot of responsibility to some fairly junior folks.

We give them the tools, make sure in the beginning we micro a bit (it is my company so they get it)...if they do well we move to the macro stage with less oversight and more project reporting: Consistent metrics and measurements everyone understands.

We have never had more clients and projects.

However, our media presence is so lame I would be embarrassed to post a link.

Did you sign a release form?

My boss is also a micro-manager... we actually get more done when he is not around. He will get you started on one thing then comes by in an hour or two and pulls you off to another task.... and so on throughout the day so you never actually get anything finished. Fortunately he is so anal he has to sit in on every meeting and he is 'that guy' that asks a thousand pointless questions and drags the meeting on and on.

My boss is a micro-manager as well. Only problem is me and my boss are the same person...
