Porsche will no longer make Diesel vehicles

It comes at no surprise that Porsche has been increasingly interested in electric and hybrid vehicles. Porsche's CEO, Oliver Blume stated that they're not "demoting diesel" with their announcement, but that the fuel isn't as important worldwide. However, they truly are getting out of the diesel business, for good. What are your thoughts on this move from Porsche?

My buddy leased a diesel Cheyne and loved it. When his lease was up he wanted to buy it but they wouldn't sell it to him. He ended up leasing the top of the line Turbo Machan and is not near as happy as he was with the diesel.

I've never had a diesel, but I've driven one or two. The torque is also addictive, but I just don't see how a diesel can be clean (and apparently neither does VW, Audi or Porsche ).

To me, hybrid seems like the way to go for the near future at least. Electric seems to have plenty of power. As the electric motors and batteries get better, hybrid should get better. Possibly eventually the IC portion will only be a generator for the electric and its batteries.

Prowling for a '15/'16 diesel Cayenne now. Already have a diesel MB (2012 E350). Damn thing gets 40 mpg on the highway, can use some of the Dodge parts on it and has some really decent grunt. Both of my brothers drive diesel VW's. I hope to be driving a diesel for at least 10 more years.

I just bought a new Audi A6 3.0 tdi which I think is the same engine Porsche used.

It’s my first diesel and I’ve got to say it’s incredible. That torque is addictive. The party starts at 1000rpm and it just pulls all the way to around 4500rpm then it’s into the next gear. 7 speed.

I should made the leap years ago. It was only the rising petrol costs that made me consider diesel
