With the current emission regulations, I wouldn't buy any new diesel, be it a four-banger or a semi. They just aren't reliable anymore.

Aren't they using that vw 3.0 diesel across all brands??

Rudolf Diesel (who disappeared off a cruise liner) and Henry Ford were very much for independence for farmers and growing their own fuel.
Something happened in the meantime.
