Hey Braintrust, Any Leads on Where to Find a Cremation Urn?
 

My google-fu is not yielding much results.

Trying to find a semi truck cremation urn like the one in this pic.
I'd like it to be the Kenworth W900. I emailed the vendor but they said it's been discontinued.

I visited a local funeral home and they've never heard of, or seen a semi truck urn. :confused:

When I first began looking around I figured it would be a fairly common urn.
However, this is my first time shopping for an urn of any type, so there's that.

I saw some 3d printed truck urns, but I'm not too keen on their looks.
Any ideas where I could find one?

Could you have someone professionally build/paint a scale model?

Thanks Steve, that's who I contacted and it's discontinued.
And the black one has a different shaped sleeper. I'm trying to find one as close as possible to his 1996 W900. His was more of a flat top rig with a MAC dump trailer.
But his wife wants the trailer to be like in the other pic I posted.

Sorry, I saw that on their website, it said the black one was "out of stock" but the other doesn't say that.

Yeah, what's to stop you from getting a nice model and putting the plastic bag of ashes in the back doors,

Hmm, when I was a kid, Dad got me into into scale models. Cars, trucks, planes, ships, old Duesenburgs, Packards. I was pretty darn good at it too.

That just might be the best way to go about it.

It would go full circle in that way!

I found a 1/32 Die cast on amazon, this is where I would start looking, I couldn't find one with a sleeper. Your google-fu might be better? I'd throw away the loader, take the cab apart and paint it and detail it like your dad's rig and then use the included trailer as the basis for the urn proper. (And I think this is a great idea - your dad would approve!)

Don, sorry to hear about your dad. The only thing I have to add is that you can get his ashes in a plain container from wherever he is cremated and then take your time finding the right permanent urn.

Sorry if that is stating the obvious. My dad used to say that when he died, he wanted his ashes put in ashtrays around the courthouse in Minneapolis w little signs telling the janitor not to empty them. He was a funny guy but the joke was from a time when no one could have anticipated that ashtrays in public places would be a relic of the 20th century. :)

His wife has the resting spot determined.

I never updated this thread. Really interesting because my Pop has been on my mind a LOT lately.

Here's what I ended up with. I really like it and his wife does too.

She and I transferred the cremains. Before we started I asked if she has ever actually seen cremains before.

She had not.

I paused, and carefully explained what we might see. Bone fragments or teeth.

We proceeded and it went very well.

We did not open the clear plastic bag. Just massaged into shape to slip into the trailer. I would guess the bag goes from the rear door up to the "A" in August.

I'll add the tractor later. May build a model myself. But quite frankly, I like how it is now. So does Gerda.
