How long would you wait for your insurance company to get back to you ?
My homeowners ins, did not cover my old roll back tow truck project that got KO'd by a tree, but looks like my business insurance does.
They initially told me that I did not have the correct coverages , but when I look at my policy, there it is, right on the Dec page. It is actually covered 2 different ways according to the wording in my policy. They gave me some run around a few weeks, back, but finally called back, and admitted that I am covered. She told me that another rep from a different branch would be contacting me. 10 days now, I left 3 messages, no reply, no emails . They are probably overwhelmed by the storm damages. I just hate to let things like this fester for too long. We are going on a month now. I finally cut, and removed the tree over the weekend, I could not stand looking at it anymore, and it was blocking my parking spaces at home . http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1538413085.jpg |
Call them every day until you have the final check in hand.

First thing in the morning, be the squeaky wheel |
Take the check minus the scrap price, and keep it to fix up later.
Insurance companies need some prodding now, and then. They would just as soon forget you exist. |
I waited 4 weeks and then went to the office. Sat in the waiting room for about 5 minutes and got everything done in about 20 minutes. Phones are too easy to dismiss. An actual person in person when they are the only person in the office that doesn't work there, not so much.

I was having a problem with my insurance broker once trying to get a COI. I ended up finding out who the CEO was and sending him an email. I got a response right away.
You can usually find out who the CEO is by doing some snooping on the Internet. It may be listed right on the business website - along with contact info. It may sound like a last resort but better than waiting around forever. |
Baz has the right idea. Ask the secretary of the person avoiding you who their supervisor is, what is the corporate office address... If there is no secretary, then ask the person who told you someone else would be calling.
They will get the message. If they don't then call the supervisor and complain. Once resolved, get another company. |
