Targa Baja California is coming and here is news you can use This year we combine various elements to make your participation even more memorable and FUN! Lets start with the hotel information as it seems like tourism is a year round deal these days. We don't want you to miss out due to lack of a place to lay your head at night. Registration will open very soon on the NASA site. We will follow up with another e mail when its open Start with reserving your rooms October 31, 2018 North Palm Springs area-Miracle Springs Resort and Spa, 10625 Palm Drive, Desert Hot Springs call 800 400 4414 and mention Targa Baja California for special rate November 1st, North Palm Springs / Joshua Tree/ Chuckwalla / Alpine California Thursday's schedule has us enjoying roads on the California side of the border, with Lunch and Laps at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway. This technically challenging course will have our usual pace cars to help keep you on the right line. Our back roads day's activities end with lodging at the Viejas Casino and Resort. 5000 Willows Road, Alpine, CA 91901 Phone 800 938 2532 and refer to 181101 TARG for our room block/ special rate November 2nd, 2018 Alpine to Baja Mexico Friday November 2nd will see us do the short sprint to the border crossing at Tecate. Note that you need your passport, or passport card, AND your insurance for Mexico. We use Qualitas Insurance as they have value coverage for our older cars. We have been happy with their service too! Follow this by a lunch break and a run all the way to Ensenada, with some twisties thrown in of course ! New this year is a night run to dinner on the Tecate Libre road, to a beach side resort for ala carte meal. Clean and aim those headlamps ! We will stay two nights in both the El Cid and El Rey Sol hotels in Ensenada Saturday morning, November 3rd dawns a little early for our group as we return to the Observatorio San Martir Road that stretches from near sea level to over 9000 feet. It is not a Porsche event, BMW event, etc. It is an ALL cars event that meet the spirit of the classic era. So a 1980 300D mercedes bedecked with rally lamps and stickers is welcomed. A new Ferrari 488 is not ! Contact me to see if your car falls outside the pre 75 date. Event Cost is $550 per car. Your hotels and meals are extra except where noted below. Lunch is included at Chuckwalla, the Observatory, and breakfast at El Rey Sol Saturday and Sunday mornings. A goodie bag with swag of course ! (you can choose sizes on the NASA site when registration opens) Event support Two tow vehicles, with trailers, ride along mechanics, tools are in radio/cell contact throughout the event in case you have a mechanical need. Gasoline We have been using the local Pemex for years on all manner of engines with no problems. Concerned because your car has need for higher octane? No problem; we will introduce you to our supplier in Ensenada so he can reserve fuel for you in advance// have containers on the one of the tow vehicles Cell phone service Most USA carriers automatically switch over once you cross the border. We will give you our contact numbers in case of emergency while you are on the event // Also FRS radios have an ok range and a fair number of our entrants bring them. Get ear buds so you can hear above your engine noise ! NASA membership Each car must have a NASA member in each car. The event is sanctioned and insured (in the USA) through NASA. This is so we can make sure you get the correct goodies that are included with your entry, or may have ordered extra. You may enter all the way till October 20th BUT most likely would not get a full goodie bag. Entry Refunds/ Credits Cancellations before September 30th = Full refund less 10% After September 30th, Entry credit only less 20% towards a future Targa event. I've watched and re-watched your videos - and truly want to do this fun event. However my car is 1991 Turbo (same old CIS engine as all the older ones :-). Please let me know if you're flexible on car age. Thanks
