Attending SEMA

I want to go to SEMA this year and walk the show to get a feel for it. I figure it will take one day at the most, so fly in, walk the show, have dinner with TABS at The Wynn and fly home.

Which day, if any is the best or which day to avoid?

Earlier the better I'd say, 31st or Nov 1. One day is going to be pretty rushed if you plan to take in the whole show. There's going to be a ton of truck stuff this year, so that may help cut down your time at SEMA if you aren't interested in it. I'd say two days would be comfortable to soak in everything, and make sure to avoid Nov 2 at all costs because it's going to be chaos with all the kids, photographers, and bloggers coming in for SEMA ignited.

2 to 3 days, there is a whole lot to see..

I've attended SEMA a few times. I think 2 days minimum. I stay for a week, and attend the show 4 days.

All good to know, thanks for the input. Looking into flights now.

I went last year. spent the first 2 days doing business with vendors I wanted to build a relationship with. Took clients to dinner after the second day and conversation turned to

Them: Did you see XXX car
Me: No
Them: Did you see this display (shows me picture)
Me: No, where was that?
Them: how about this, you must have seen it?
Me: No

You get the drift..... so much to see if only going to spectate.

Do you like bro dozers and mall crawlers? :)

I wore new sneaks to SEMA. Messed up my baby toe and the nail fell off a few weeks later.

It's a zoo.

Hope you have your ticket, which is not that easy to get. You can't just walk up and buy one.

No, I was one of the few attendees there to do business... :)

We took three young adults with us to SEMA a couple of years ago. It is mind-blowing... Walked for at least 8 hours a day for a full three days and did not see all the show. I had a "melt-down" in the paint booth area on the third day and did not go back into the buildings after that... A girl can only stand looking at a certain number of paint booths before she starts speaking in tongues - LOL!

I would DEFINITELY do it again. We may go back in 2019 (with the young'uns).

Make sure you see the Koni booth with the Chris Runge car.

I've been talking with Chris over the past week, looking forward to hanging out with him at SEMA!

Not looking good for going. Confirmed today something I had heard years ago, you can't anodize later window frames. Turns out Porsche went to a cheap, porous aluminum sometime into their painted frame phase that because of the porosity, gets cloudy on anodizing. So now I have to strip a full frame set, sand and repolish and clear with Cerakote, the only viable option for this job.

Newer one-time painted frame on the left, old school frame on the right, both refinished to the same standard and anodized.
