Anyone know Neon?

Not the car!

My Son scored a Pyramid Ales sign in Ballard (extra funky Seattle neighborhood) for $20!
No transformer on it though... any ideas what size transformer we need to bring it back to life?

We tried to look up GAS N GLASS NEON since it has their sticker on it, they are not in business though.

Thanks in advance!

We already have a spot picked out in the shop for it ;)

I know in Portland there are some neon folks. Should be some near you. My FIL has a bunch of neon. Let me know if you need a connection. I think he usually buys old transformers. Don't know why.

Thanks!
There are some places in Seattle doing Neon, I was gambling on the Pelican brain trust...

Check antique restoration places - some still deal with neon - the guys from American Pickers (the TV show) buy old signs and have neon restored. Someone like that could steer you in the right direction. There are also artisans that still work with neon as an art form. There has to be a supply place somewhere.

The size of the transformer is usually dictated by the diameter of the neon tube
and the overall length or run. Check with Northern Lights Neon In Monroe,
425-844-6415. They could fix it for you.

I have purchased parts from this guy in the past to repair/restore a Rainier sign. It’s been a few years but I am pretty sure he will have what you need.

Steinville - Home of neon beer sign parts, bud beer steins, lots of signs and breweriana.

These guys will have what you need for a good price. Check all the tubes and make sure it isn’t cracked anywhere

Also don’t mess around with the hot side of the transformer. Ranges from 12k volts to 15k volts. It’ll make you tingle a bit!

If you have questions about hooking it all up just ping me, my dad has been working with neon for 25 years.
