Probably the most unlikely was Dustin Hoffman in The Graduate. Who would have thought such a dorky looking guy could play that role? I think the part was written for Troy Donahue or some blonde surfer looking dude. Hoffman killed in that role. One of the best movies ever.

My MIL had a small part in a local community theater, they did Young Frankenstein.

The guy playing Igor (his first ever play) must have watched that movie 100X because he nailed the part, I was dying laughing, he stole the show.
