Loosing Your Temper......Lost Mine Yesterday

Lost it for the first time in over 20+ years, maybe longer, even when dealing with really stupid computer customers I would tell myself they were just not educated. Anyways, back at the end of August I had a 1.5 inch diameter cancerous spot removed from my right side forehead, right at the hairline. About 3 weeks into September at my last office visit the doc said there was a small lump in front of my right ear and it might be some "drainage" from when he moved my scalp around to fill the "hole". He said to keep an eye on it and it slowly grew larger and when I went to see the oncologist folks at the beginning of this month they said I should get it removed as it was too large. So I got an appointment with a surgeon and he looked at it and agreed it should come out and scheduled a MRI. The MRI showed a "lump" but couldn't be sure of cancer or not?

Soooooo a surgery is scheduled for to morrow but after the MRI my heart doctor (quad by-pass 4 1/2 yrs ago) wanted a stress. Okay no problem as I told them I can't run the treadmill test now due to hip spurs and a metal knee but when I got there last Friday, guess what, a treadmill test so they quickly checked and this last Monday a nuclear stress test was scheduled and I looked great the test doctor said. As of yesterday, the surgeon's office called and said they had no info from my heart doctor and they had called 4 times! Could I call too please so I did and here is where things went badly. The lady on the phone (not a nurse) said they had the message but they had been unable to get someone to type up the paperwork as UCSD Medical system is having "workers" going on a 3 day strike but they said NO hospital actions would be affected at all! The lady then said the surgeon should have gotten all the tests scheduled before and surgery scheduling and it may just have to be moved! Then I lost it and said if my surgery would have to be moved because the heart doctor can't do their own one sentence note saying all is well, I will call EVERY TV station in the San Diego area, including the Mexican ones and explain why I am having to lay in bed with tremendous headaches that even my hydrocodone can't stop that they would love something like that!

Here it comes...….I got a call from the surgeon's office less than 15 minutes later saying they have the heart doctor's okay in hand and all is well! Sorry this is so long but we do get medical posts on here at times and these are the sorts of things that can possibly happen when you too get old. The surgeon did say that my eye sight will not be affected so I can still shoot the muzzle loaders!

Amazing you have to go through stuff like that to just get the machine to work like it should.

Khal 10-25-2018 03:34 PM

You were damn right to lose your **** in this situation. BTW. Sorry to hear your health is not going well and I wish you the best of luck and live long and prosper. .,\\ //

I lost it on a dude who sold me a used Xbox that was bricked and I brought it back to gamestop 20 minutes later wanting me money back and they won't give me the cash.

I lost it on an employer that bounced 3 checks in a row on me and started to ruin my credit because he couldn't pay me because his wife was a coke head that weighed 80 pds.

I almost lost it when some punk in Tacobell butted in line infront of me, road rage can be not only in the car it can expand to other avenues.

Hopefully your surgery goes okay and there is a sativa to help with the pain control.

A couple of questions. You said you had it removed in August, when did you first see it first, how many months or years before? How fast did it take to grow that big? What is that like to experience? Myself I'd start freaking the **** out that shat is hitting the fan and I didn't smoke enough weed to prevent this cancer from happening to begin with and triple down on doseage.

John, you didn’t lose your temper, you fixed a problem...a little fan room counciling as it were.

I hope the rest of your medical issues go well.

Fair winds...

Dealing with medical staff requires constant follow up. They are the worst employees to work anywhere for anyone. You go into the deal knowing that and don't take any prisoners. Take it right to the docs face if you have to. They seldom have a clue about what goes on in their office.

Hospitals are even worse. You have to have someone with you all hours of the day and night unless you are asleep. Even then they give you the wrong meds. Almost better to spit it out if you can't see for yourself and wait for your companion to verify. Also, a companion has to monitor sanitary practices. I swear half the hospital workers would wipe their ass with your dinner napkin.

Thanks for sharing, John.

Proud of you for taking action.

Too many irresponsible people in the health care business in my opinion.

Best wishes going forward, sir!

I lost my temper years ago. Mrs. Beard will attest that I still haven't found it.

sammyg2 10-25-2018 04:15 PM

Well it didn't just get up and walk away .... where was the last place you saw it?

wdfifteen 10-25-2018 04:17 PM

I completely understand. I hate it when medical staff treat me like my health problem is no more important than a flat tire on my lawnmower. It’s my body, dammit, I might die or worse and you can’t act as if it is important?
I don’t mind if the counter people at me FLAPS laugh and joke amongst themselves a little when I’m ordering a car part, but if I’m making an appointment for surgery I expect and should have their full attention.
I don’t lose my temper much anymore, but the times I come closest seem to involve medical staff.

My thoughts exactly. Losing your temper is when you take out 20 years of life's frustrations on the lady at the gas pump because she gave you a fill of premium when you asked for regular. Wrong place wrong time for her and you feel just like a heel the minute you do it.

What you did is what needed doing. Good luck with your procedure, and let us know how it all went!

stealthn 10-25-2018 05:19 PM

Good for you man!

I lost my **** twice in the last two weeks with doctors trying to figure out what’s wrong. First one is throwing out guesses at the worst thing it could be, I snapped him back quickly to reality commenting that he is not only scaring my wife, but a scientist that shouldn’t throw out guesses as to what could be the cause ( My words were not that kind), and the second when he said my wife had no symptoms while on meds, I corrected him and said she did, which he said “so is she lying then” - took every part of me not to punch him, but I explain due to the 6 doctors each with their “ therories” she could be a little distracted...

I’m still mad typing this...people need to understand and empathize with others that are in serious states. I would

Stress sucks, and we have all been there. I think you will find that everything turns out fine.

We will be thinking good thoughts here for you.

It takes a lot of restraint to deal with todays society of spoiled stupid people ! Between the attitude of " it's all about me " to people being buried in their cellphones to just being stupid . Just look at some of the " professionals  " that are working in some medical offices ............ YIKES I wouldn't want to deal with them at a fast food restaurant let alone a medical office . Add to that just mountains of what seems like worthless paperwork to help the insurance companies screw the little guy some more its no wonder you sometimes have to lose it to cope . I feel better now :D

Zeke 10-26-2018 07:57 AM

OTOH, I have found out that being very polite can get a lot done. I have had a temper all my life but as things get worse, I get better and the results can be positive. A lot of these people hear anger and frustration all day long. Being different makes a difference.

I remember a cartoon in the national lampoon from about a hundred years ago.
it showed a guy sitting in his favorite chair in front of the TV.
The guy squashes the beer in his hand while screaming at the TV, "

Quote:

Says you stupid A-hole"!

"fricken Fred Flintstone ..."
Cept it used more colorful language.
Back then I thought that was hilarious because it was so outrageous.

Nowadays I can relate.

targa911S 10-26-2018 02:20 PM

every once in a while my evil twin has to show up. Everybody hates the guy. He's a dick. But there are times he is the one that is needed to get things done. i hate the guy myself..

The lady at the “gas pump?” Are we talking happy endings here? There is a regular and a premium?? I lead such a sheltered life.
