We voted today!
MrsWD and I moved last winter and we are voting in our new environment for the first time. I'm having my foot operated on tomorrow, so we voted today in case I die from over pampering before next week.
What a difference. In our old county there were always lines and they rammed you through the process like cattle on the way to slaughter. The idea of two people voting together was unheard of. Electronic voting machines and all matter of claptrap. Here, there was no line. We walked in, did the id thing, and two ladies gave us our ballots. We only had one cheat sheet between us so I asked if we could vote together. "Sure, no problem." They sent us to a table with some pens on in and we sat there and filled out the ballots. I have no idea why, but MrsWD gets incredibly nervous about voting and was freaking out. I had to tell her she's not on trial, just choosing the frikkin' school board for pete's sake. She messed up a ballot, started to cry, and they brought us another one, no problem. When we were finished we dropped the ballots into an honest to god galvanized metal ballot box, like in some third world country or a quiet rural American town. We needed the cheat sheet because we are new to the area and don't know the political landscape. The county prosecutor lives down the road, so we invited her over for coffee and asked her to give us the lowdown on the local scum, so we didn't vote for a major crook. The experience was like an Andrew Wyeth painting - pure Americana - beautiful in its simplicity. I am so proud to be an American. |

Voted on the kitchen table last evening. Wife and eldest child at the same time. We discussed and researched items together.
It was fun family / civic duty bonding. |
Great painting. That woman needs to eat. We mailed in our filled-out ballots this morning. Two years to wait until we do it again.

Thanks to mail in ballots, voting naked in Oregon is a thing!

Looking forward to voting THIS week. We have a nurse staffing ballot question that I'm interested in. |
That's almost how it is here, Patrick. I'm planning on voting one day this week.
Thanks for doing your civic duty and for your post. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat6.gif |

We have the luxury here of voting at home, cold here this time of year so we wear clothes.
Just vote, tuck, tuck again, lick, seal, sign, date and drop off at the lo-cal library, same place we get our DVDs and books too! Crazy... I know. But handy as all get out. |
