Questions on Old Metal Cabinets

Mr. Lane has made Mrs. Lane very happy by buying her a cabin in the woods... I can mountain bike, swim, explore....

And clean. I mean REALLY clean. This place was quite dirty. The pics below are the kitchen after about two days of cleaning/organizing. Not done yet, but getting pretty close.

I've got some questions about the cabinets. Uppers and lowers are all metal. They are older than the cabin which is 1970's. The uppers are Youngstown and have serial numbers inside the cabinets. The lowers are Beauty Queen. My best gestimate is late 1940's to mid 1950's. All of the cabinets work perfectly (doors, pulls, etc) and I'm not interested in restoring them - I like them as-is. But I would like to know more about them.

Can they be more accurately dated, particularly the Youngstown with the serial #'s? Is there a good source for parts (if I do need them) or spares if I want to add a few more?

Sorry, nothing to offer except I assume you've already exhausted your intent option. They're cool in a retro way. The cabin sounds nice.

Nifty looking little kitchen.
The Mahoning Valley Historical Society might be able to help. They have quite a collection of Youngstown stuff. Maybe even factory records.

Wow, those are in really good shape. We've torn apart many 50s metal cabinets. Most were broken, rusted through and really needed to be taken down. Sorry I have nothing for you but they look great.

Check this out - NOS 1948 Youngstown cabinets and more

Etsy has bits and complete cabinets.

I'd imagine eBay does too. There is a certain collector community for these.

Need pic's of the cabin.....Congrats on all of that......

When I built my cabin (1987), I was poor and a single dad.....I got kitchen cabinets/appliances free by removing them from a house down the street from Bill Gates....(nice neighborhood)

8 years later, get remarried and guess what? Need new cabinets and applicances....Those cabinets are in my garage now.

Hahaha!! Thanks Vash! I actually forgot to take "before" pics. It didn't look too bad in the pics when we bought it but it was deeply ingrained filth everywhere along with a ridiculous collection of crap stuffed in every cabinet. I have taken an entire pickup load of junk out of just the kitchen in this place. Probably two pickup loads from down stairs and a third around the cabin that the bears had scattered.

Thanks for the info guys - I love the place!
