the Mortar and Pestle.

man..buying one is a challenge. online you have zero clue on sizing. reviews are all over the place.

i wanted a giant italian marble one that i saw in Rome, but no way. i didnt want to carry that on a plane. (i regret it now).

i think i am homing in on one that is at a local store. they are holding it for me so i can see it with my own eyes (and hands)

you all bashing seasonings by hand? pesto?

I have a large porcelain Coors one (yes, the beer company) and it works great. I have seen the granite ones at Cost Plus and they seem good for heavy grinding. I think if I were going to buy one today I'd get a molcajete like TimT suggested, they have a nice one on Amazon.

Got a couple; a small one for spices and a much larger one that probably weighs about 20 pounds. Seldom use either, too many other ways to do things that used to be done in one of those.

I've got 3. A tiny porcelain one, a medium sized granite one and a large lava rock type one that I got from a Mexican to make guac. I don't use any of them. It's too convenient to use other tools instead.

I was going to buy one then I Google'd my supposed application and they said just put the items in a Ziploc bag and use a rolling pin... I suppose it depends on what you want to use it for.

I love my mortar and Pestle. Use it all the time. Some polished black stone, granite I guess. Deep enough to hold two and a half maybe three cups.

This one! It’s big. The bowl is about 7” across on the inside.

I used one everyday when I worked as a lab tech at a vitamin company. My job was to verify that Vitamin C 500 tablets actually contained 500 milligrams of vitamin C. There was a slight variance allowed of +- 1%. Same with 100, 250, 1000 mg tabs.

Coolest thing in the lab was the scale. You could tare a piece of paper to zero and then write your name on the paper and weigh the amount of ink in your signature!

A Mexican restaurant we go to used one of those to make guac. It looks so porous, how do you get it clean?

My germ phobia says it’s chalk full of bacteria.
