Vintage documentary about my hometown and porsche content sort of

I grew up in Wildwood, NJ and still reside here most of the time. It was a great time and a great town to grow up in. A small town in the winter where everyone knew everyone. In the summer it transformed into a party. My home town has lost most of it's luster but I still love it.

I just stumbled upon this PBS special on YouTube about my hometown. It looks like it is from the early to mid 1990's. My town was well past it's hay day when this film was made but it gives a glimpse into what it once was. You all may recognize a few faces in the video as well. The sightseeing boats are converted PT-boats.

From 3:03 to 3:38 there is a little spot about surfing. A guy comes on and talks about making surfboards in his garage. Well it worked out pretty well.l He opened a surf shop right down the street from my house. One spring day in 1974 when I was walking home from school past his surf shop as my friends and I always did. Sitting out front was an odd looking round car that I had never seen before with a piece of the top out and a surfboard was sticking out. That car was always at the surf shack he speaks about in the video. I bought that car in 1984. I still own that 1974 911S Targa. I still buy surfboards from Mike and take my car by his shop from time to time.

I just googled it. Marvelous place! Beach across the road, good sand. Some waves. NYC and Philadelphia just up the road. Cool place to grow up.

We watched last night thanks.

Spent a few days there in the 70's, 'rents prefered seaside(closer) but I liked wildwood better.

That was neat, thanks. Must have been a hoot to grow up there.

Where you ever in the Baby Parade?

I have never been there but have flown by Wildwood dozens of times.
