Another interwebs blackmail scam

Friend told me today that he received an email from a low life that had his email user name an old password. The fraudster said that they had searched his internet history and had found many unsavory web sites my friend had visited and would send a list of the sites to everyone in his Contacts unless he paid $500 in bitcoin. My friend responded by saying “be my guest, and by the way FU”. He doesn’t do porn sites or anything weird so even if it was true, which he doubted, he had nothing to fear.

My guys want 800 in bitcoin.
They come every few weeks, telling me that they have pictures of me watching porn, and will send those pictures to everyone on my contact list.
Seems like it’s going around.

Yep, mine said they had turned on my PC's camera and were going to send video of me masterbating and the portn I was watching. There is no reply, only the bitcoin account so don't know how your friend could have replied. Just talked to my anti-spam filter tech and made sure they were blocked in the future.

The password they said they had I haven't used in 10 years. Told a friend of mine, he laughed and said he hasn't used that same password in 10 years either.

Wanted to reply to tell them I was in the port industry and them sending out those videos would be good advertising for me. Unless they edited the movies to give me a small penis like they have, then I would have to take them to court for misrepresenting my brand.

They also spoofed my email account saying they had hacked it and send it with my email to prove they had access to my account.

That’s exactly what my letters were like, including the spoofed e mail account.

In the old days, when I was getting the Nigerian inheritance scam e mails , I would send one guys e mails to another one, asking if they could beat the offer.

I get them almost daily, goes right to spam (gmail)

They have an old password, never used for email, I used to use for low-security accounts.
