Any jag f type owners

Looking at maybe the supercharged 6 or 8 cyl. Buying preowned 2016-18. Any comparison between the models? Just started looking don’t know if the “R” is in the budget but could be if it’s not a huge difference. Also any comparison to a late 997 early 991 from anyone that’s driven both. Thanks

Buddy has an R. Raves about Jag customer service. Thing is a rocket ship.

I have a 2011 XF, 5.0LV8 non SC'd. Nice car, we like it, Lots of power for a 2 ton Brit car. My wife's car actually. Seems to score well on reviews. It's not a Porsche or a sports car at all.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1543023740.jpg

Ms gogar has a 2012 xkr (similar motor) and it's ridiculous. I've never turned the wheel whilst going fast but i imagine its better than I am.

They really turned around since they were sold from Ford, prior to our panamera turbo we had an xfr, 5 liter supercharged with over 500hp! Rear wheel drive!

I have a 2015 R, I also had a 991 and 997. Hated the 991, so boring. The Jaguar is a lot more fun. The main difference between the 2015 R and the later models is RWD vs AWD. The AWD is heavier, taller and the added front diff screws up the perfect bonnet lines. Unneeded in my opinion. The car is as docile or ferocious as you want it to be...

The Porsche is better built. My diff started seeping at 20k. Standard repair is to replace the whole unit. Under warranty though. Probably could have left it, but I'm particular. A few loose trim pieces and a rattling speaker also fixed. Every luxury brand I've had, same issues.

These lines and the exhaust note would make this car a serious contender for me if I had the scratch.

I cross shopped the Vantage. In the end, I couldn't justify the extra 50k for an older, slower and less pretty platform because of the badge. And on top of that, they were both designed by the same guy. Aston has a better interior though.

Check out post #7.

It really is going to depend on your goals.

The F-type is more in the order of a modern Corvette than a modern Porsche 911.

This is personal preference, but I do not like the digital screens implemented in Jaguar dash consoles. Porsche does it better and gives us real gauges in the dash cluster. On the 991 just a little inset for navigation that is well implemented is used.

Sebscst 11-24-2018 05:48 AM

356 thanks I agree, sorry but the newer 911 models just don’t do it for me as much as I want them to. The lines, sound and performance on the jag scream excitement. I’ve got analog gauges on the other cars so a digital dash would be fine. And sweet 528,533.

Tervuren please don’t compare it to a vette.:D
