Anyone have some Euros for sale?

I can't find a bank that charges less than 5% above market exchange rate. Of course, they don't say they charge anything; it's just built into their exchange rate. If anyone here has at least 100 Euros, more like 500, for sale, I'll pay you current market exchange rate to take them off your hands.

Have you checked Chase? I picked up $200 euro at the one near me back in Feb and it was at current rate. Matched what I was seeing using currency calculators.

I think Mrs. Lee has a Chase CC, so I'll stop by a local branch and ask. I didn't see anything on their website.

Not sure if they do it for CC holders but as a chase checking member they just pulled the equivalent of $200 out of my account. Took about 24 hours to get the bills at the branch.

We did it for Chinese RMB a long time ago and only had a CC with them. Just can't remember how they calculated the rate.

We got Euro's from Bank of America before our trip to Italy 2 years ago.
On the BofA site, the current exchange rate as of this AM is 1.0604 - $1060.04US for 1000 Euro.
When I googled the exchange rate I got 1.12 - I don't understand why BofA is showing .06 LESS than the true exchange rate.

You never get the Bank Rate when you exchange currencies. The bank has to make some money from the transaction.

Best rates are always at ATM locations at your destination. You'll just need to utilize your debit function so as not to incur the "cash withdrawal" interest rates on your CC.

The official exchange rate today is $1.12 for one Euro. BofA's order page says it's $1.17. Ain't paying anyone 5% when the worst FX fee on a debit card is 3%. In the past I've been able to find someone on Craigslist who just came back, and take them off their hands at current price. I put a WTB ad on Nextdoor and all these know-nothings are PMing me, telling me banks do it for free. SMH. We're doomed.

BoA gave me 2.X% when I went to Paris earlier this year. Still have 30 Euro left that I'm using in September.

I'd probably take that, but it's not what their website says. I'll ask when I go to a BofA branch to pay my mortgage this week if they have a better deal for in-person transactions. I did buy from them a few years ago and it was the best deal I could find. But 5% is unacceptable.

What I thought was odd is my small business bank was at 5%+, astronomical. BoA is my personal, I then just went to a branch, then another that had Euro on hand. If you go to a branch, call ahead and see if they have Euro there.

Last time BofA actually mailed me an envelope full of cash. LOL.

Now Mrs. Lee is yelling from across the house that she just found 85 Euros in an old purse. I have 15 or so in the gun safe, so I should be good until I get to an ATM there.

I like what you're doing. The same idea has crossed my mind.

I mean, currency is supposed to be portable. Exchangeable.

One cash exchange costing 5% is ridiculous.

If I could use my Amex in an ATM with no cash-advance fees, I'd do it. But those fees make it a false economy. So I'll just use my two different banks' debit cards for that stuff, unless I find more Euros for sale here before I leave.

Ok, KC... ALL forex cash exchange costing 5% is ridiculous.

BTW, not ALL CC charges are 3% overhead. They vary. (just like forex)

Was in UK/Scotland for 2 weeks last month.

Con-tactless pay is everywhere.

Did not exchange a penny.

Everything went on the Barclay card.

Paid ~1 point conversion per transaction.
