Way OT: Wireless gaming headset that works with both PC and Xbox One?

Hoping the Pelican brain-trust can help, I am thinking about Christmas gift ideas for the boy, anyone recommend a wireless headset that is compatible with both PC and Xbox One?

A quick search on Amazon turns up this, but the reviews are not exactly stellar: https://www.amazon.com/PDP-Afterglow-Wireless-Headset-Xbox-One/dp/B016K122XU

Anoyone solved this particular puzzle?

Like to keep it under $100 if possible.

Thanks.

PC only here, can't be much help.

I use Razer everything primarily because I love their mouse with 20 clickies.

I can input low digit numbers rapidly into cad without taking my hand off the short cut keys on the left side of the keyboard.

I will say this, a $100 headset will not sound as nice as $100 earbuds.

The advantage of the headset is you can hear other things going on around you, a doorbell, house on fire, someone asking you to take care of something, etc...

He's not talking about a headset that's open on one side like you'd use with a phone system.

Cans, full over the ear headphones.

Yes, I know. You want stereo for gaming.

Zone in on targets by sound even if you can't see them.

In ear or over ear each have their advantages. Personally since I live alone I prefer over ear so if there is something making noise it gets my attention.(Package at door, etc.)

I am not as concerned about perfect clarity/sound quality, just that it has a microphone and will work with both systems.

Looks like X-box uses their own wireless system, and from what I can find, the Xbox headsets synch to the console like a wireless controller. In theory I can get a wireless controller adapter for the PC and use any Xbox headset, but I don't want to have to buy something extra to make it work, seems like there should be something that just works.

It does look like I may be able to get a bluetooth headset for the PC, and use a cable on the Xbox and plug it in to the controller, but not sure if that works with a microphone.

My kids use wired headsets plugged into the controller on Xbox one and it seems to work fine.....

Although they tell into them so damn much I’m not sure they need a microphone! 🤣

The reality, wireless headphones suck.

That's why you have trouble finding them at a reasonable price point.

My nephew likes the Logitech stuff. We don't use them, even during LAN parties.

Just bought my son a pair of Turtle Beach Stealth 700s. Recommended by the store clerk. I have zero experience with this stuff, but seemed like the brand a lot of kids liked. Works with Xbox wirelessly and without adapter and works for PC too. Also any other Bluetooth device, like phone, etc. So they would certainly fit the basic requirements. Not sure how good the sound and mic. are yet.

Turtle Beach used to make all high end stuff so I would bet they are better than decent.

Really need wireless, the Home Theater/Game PC he uses is in the living room, and for a corded solution, it would need to be about 12 feet long, minimum.

The Turtle Beach looks good, but reading the documentation, and the Q&A on Amazon, it only connects to Windows 10, using a Xbox wireless adapter. Bluetooth only works with phones. His PC is Win 7.

I didn't think this would be this difficult.
