NFL blackouts, where did they go?

Just thinking about things that don't mean a thing. The NFL has seen attendance drop for years on end, and here in Indy, the Colts have been on TV every home game so far. In years past, we would always hear the warnings by media that if The game isn't a sellout by 72 hours before, it would be blacked out locally. Never hear that any more, stadium has plenty of empty seats, so what gives? Did the NFL just give up and throw in the towel? Just wondering?

Sometimes a sponsor will buy out blocks of seats.

I went to a Jags game where the corners of the upper deck were covered with sponsors logo.

Also, i recall that FedEx field eliminated a bunch of seats for this reason.

Never understood the economic of seating prices. Figuring in the parking and concession revenue, I would think it would generate higher revenues filling the seats even if it meant lower ticket prices.

They lost momentum for the next generation as well.
My understanding is that the Grateful Dead sold the most merchandi$e of any band in history, despite them allowing bootlegs etc.
Even if they break even, they can build up cultural capital for later.

It's time for cities to stop paying for new stadiums.

Probably no blackouts because locals would then discover that there are better things to watch on the tube.

Not only that, but they have allowed the soundboard recordings, etc. to be archived online for distribution online at archive.org .... and they are STILL selling merchandise, collections albums, Dicks Picks, etc.

Two of my favorite bands...y'all probably never heard of them....discovered via trading live shows. I then spent literally tens of thousands on the tours, music cruises, tees, cds, etc. ....just because. None of them were "in it" for the money....but they did just fine...avoiding the "record biz" along the way too... mostly

To purchase seasonal UM college football tickets, you first to pay $500 just to get into the lottery to buy them.
-college-
Up the street from a relative lives a former UM football star. Wiki page and everything.
Even he can't get tickets.
