This is the last two weeks progress. 2 guys with nail guns could have framed this in about 2 hours but not me working alone with a hammer. Oh well I have pride! ;)

It rained last night as you can see. Next weekend is the Rolex 24 so I'll be giving my hammering arm a rest. And it will allow my nail holding finger to heal because this morning I hit the wrong nail. It's still throbbing. That 22 oz. hammer packs a wallop. :(

Friends are only a phone call away

Paul you are getting there and I must say the cheap Harbor Freight framing nailer I purchased to build my garage was money well spent . The only nails hit were the one's in the gun :D I am curious to see what you are going to do for a roof line . Enjoy the 24 ! SmileWavy

It's been a few weeks so here's an update,
Here are the threaded rods installed. They really do the job of pulling everything down tight. Top of walls; http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1551065247.jpg |
|
The back wall ends up having 9 rods in it due to the window, the door and the joint when 2 wall sections come together. The wall will not be going anywhere soon.

I now have walls up going all the way around to reconnect to the other end of the existing wall. The new garage door opening is next to the existing corner. I had to rebuild the corner so I had to cut out all the overhangs that were in the way.

It is framed with 2 king studs and 2 jack studs.

The LVL beam is 9 1/2" deep x 3 1/2" thick x 125 3/4"long.

All clamped in. I can't put the top plates on until I remove the back existing wall next weekend.

This is an existing 1/2" anchor bolt. Well it used to be 1/2". I was able to break it off with one tap of my hammer.

So I see the guy next door and he says, "Hey I hear you hammering over there, are you doing all with a hammer?" I said, "No I'm going buy a nail gun for next part." He says, "Well I got a nail gun you can use." He brings me this gun with 100' of hose. Dude you could have done this a month ago.

Better late than never!
Nice job! |
Those are a great pneumatic nailer. Made in Japan.
Not all the Hitachi guns are. |
I am LOVIN' daylight savings time!! I can get a few hours of work in after I get home from work.
Tonight I removed the lap siding and the interior masonite. The interior of the wall had masonite pegboard. The stuff was so old, dried out and brittle. I tried pulling it off the wall and it would snap off like plate glass. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1552442545.jpg |
