JD TRS-26 engine

So, you cant get a replacement 9hp Tecumseh engine, does anyone know if any others will drop in? Like a 9 or 10 hp engine? There is a 10hp short block for $150 available. They have an odd two pulley system.

Looks like this:

You may be stuck as the rear of the engine case looks odd. Prolly to accommodate the idler / tensioner pulley assembly. If memory serves me with JD, they would only use whatever engine manufacturer and stick with it for small implements like this. I don't remember them switching suppliers during a run.

What's wrong with yours?

I have this bookmarked from when I was working on my snowblower

See if your SN falls in the range. Good for product details if nothing else.

I wondered if another Tecumseh would drop in from another model.

VV, I will check the list there and see.

Dad has one with a cracked block and he is wondering if it is worth messing with.

Cracked block might be repairable.

I would rather fix the engine that fit than eff around with another one.

Or toss the snowblower...

Move south far enough that you do not need a snowblower.

Else, have you tried something like Small Engine Warehouse? SEW.

According to the link above several have the same bolt pattern. Will let him go from there.
