Dean Martin's version of Rudolph..............

So..................Ol Dean's version of this classic has definitely been around for a while. While listening last week I swear to you I hear in the last verse goes exactly like this:

...Rudy the red-d****ed reindeer...................blah blah blah.

So he sings it the lyrics correctly through the song with his twist - until the last verse and I'm certain that's what he says. I've really listened several times when it came on, I'd bet the farm on it.

What puzzles me is that no one has caught it up to this point. The challenge is then do any of you hear the same thing?

I've herd that in the past as well. I brushed it off but I think you're correct.

It's "beaked." Seems like when you think you hear it a certain way, that's what you hear it. At 1:53:

I might hear beaked but definitely not dicked.

I hear beaked....but have no clue why nosed, beaked, or dicked all have the "d" added on :)

Rudolf with a red nose, beak, or dick .....doesn't need a "d".... or does it?

He sings "Rudy the red-beaked reindeer." It's funny, when you listen for "red dikked reindeer," that's what you hear. Like a self-fulfilling prophecy. When I think I know the lyrics to a song, I can't objectively hear the real words. I have to look up the lyrics themselves, and then once I've hear the song again, hear the correct words. I think the brain is influencing the interpretation.

This is true and is a real thing. I remember a whole section of psychology class about it. It also explains how many people hear devil chants if you play the Beatles backwards, etc but only once they were told to listen for it.

If the brain is told to hear something, it often does even if it knows better.
