cheap e-mail host?

I had an old domain hosted by Network Solution with a single e-mail address in use and finally got sick of paying the $80 annual fees for the domain and e-mail account.

I transferred the domain to Godaddy and mistakenly thought it included one e-mail address, oops wrong. Godaddy wants to sell me an e-mail account for $60 a year. Great, all the effort to save $10.

Can anyone recommend a cheap e-mail host company? There is nothing important being sent to that account, I just want to be able to check it once a week or so.

I tried searching the forum, but only found my old post from 2005 where ironically I was complaining about godaddy.

I've been slowly moving my domains to https://www.hobohost.com for the same reason. $12/year hosting + email. No issues in well over a year, but I'm also not bandwidth heavy on any of them.

1and1.com used to be good and inexpensive. Godaddy is cheap.

Host myself on linode.com, w/ back up servers, my own dns, etc.

More expensive than 1and1, etc and requires a high level geek skills but I am in total and complete control.

Host a full featured email server, calendaring, contacts, etc. activesync for phones, downloadable full email client that matches webmail client, and backup/archiving. Cost of Internet and keeping server (replace every 3 years), email software, and hosted antispam up-to-date is just under $5/mo for 30 users. Have had this server setup for over 11 years. Pay a little more for anti-spam hosting as opposed to running anti-spam on my server because it keeps the spam traffic off my internet bandwidth. It's like the $4/mo 365 exchange account, only I provide a client and anti-spam. Also provide ftp that works like Drop Box.

enom charges $14/year .com domains, and $1/mo basic email. so $26/yr for .com domain and 1 email.
