That is cool.

I heard an old story that is likely just urban legend. The Japanese sent the Swiss engineers a sample of their prowess, the worlds smallest drill bit. The Swiss sent it back with a hole drilled in it.

The variation of this story that I heard was that the Germans sent the Swiss a bit of the tinyest-ever-machined extremely fine wire to brag about.

A while later it was returned to sender with no documentation. So the Germans examined it very carefully and eventually discovered the Swiss had drilled a hole down the center the whole length of the wire.
