I use regular buffing compound. Just got done doing my entire shower with buffing compound and then wax. There were a few rust rings that I was able to take out with compound and a buffing wheel on a drill.

Buffing compound is great. Lots of really good info on the boat forums too. Boats are smooth. Half you guys either can't read, don't read or don't comprehend. THE TUB IS TEXTURED ON THE BOTTOM! How are you going to "buff" the stain out of that?

I give up. Getting cranky again, time for some more time off.

Look, it would be nice to use the spray in tub liner, but for these homes, the company won't pay for it. These tubs are maybe $5-600 at most in a home that runs for $500-600K. It's a numbers game that they are willing to use the free from the plumber plastic tub liner during construction.

I loaded up today with "rust remover" products and will see if they work when I get back to work next wednesday.

Thanks again for everyone's help.

Its smooth texture, not rough like sandpaper. A little rubbing or polishing compound on a rad will just remove the very, very slight layer where the rust has stained the fiberglass. A little wax may even do it or toothpaste like you said.

You can spray it on, but we brush or roll it so we don't make a mess and we can control the application of this material in areas where it see most potential damage. Its cheap compared to what you have to do if it get dinged or kept having to btich and nag like an old lady only to fine minor damage or nicks on places that are seen easily. Its about 20 bucks a gallon, I think? Will ask my guy next week if you like. Like I sais, dealing with numb nuts like that will drive me to jump off the roof of my next job. that's why I only work with folks I know. I really like em' trained, getting too old for this crap. Good luck with the rust removal. Let us know how it goes.

$20 per gallon? Shoot me the information.

I’d really like to try it.
