Waze issues with Ford Sync

For the last 2 years I have been using Waze on my iPhone plugged into the USB on my 2016 F150. Recently, when I plugged in the phone to the USB port and actived Waze I got an audio error message from Sync. Something like " this program does not match the active lanauge of Sync" and then Waze turns off. Of course, if I up plug the USB cable, then Waze works fine.

I looked at the Bluetooth settings, but this did not help as it still does not recognize Waze. Anyone else experience this or have a fix?
