Pastors son of the church right behind my shop. I'm looking at it right now . Big beautiful historic church. Kevin , the pastor, and his wife are about as nice of people as one could imagine meeting. I don't know the kid much, but have seen him grow from a little carpet muncher swinging on the church swings, to a teen.

Most of these situations arise out of some kind of peer pressure and self esteem issues.

Insecurities.

Not sure how to address this other than perhaps more educational programming on TV and social media. Fat chance of that happening though when there's more money to be made when bad stuff happens.

Strange world but not when it's understood the almighty dollar rules everything else in most of our civilisation.

There has to be a reason for the stereotype of the "typical preachers kid" and I have known a few. There seems to be a lot of PK kids that are just uh weird. It is going to be real hard for the parents in this story. I feel sorry for them.

If he was thinking about going postal (is that still a thing?) at prom, hopefully his arrest puts an end to these ideas and he gets the help and treatment he needs.

I'm hoping he gets help and is released (and the help is actually helpful). Its a shame to see someone this age with no priors jailed for much of their young life.

I'm hoping that the congregation and church community do more than 'pray' for him. He is screaming out for help right now and prayers aren't the kind of help he needs.

Fast Fred I understand how hard it is trying to understand incidents like this. My son was in k through high school with a nice kid and a good kid. I coached him in little league and shared Rockies tickets with his parents, Tom and Sue. Then April 20 happened and Dylan and his new friend Eric shot up Columbine. It is the great mystery in my life how a normal, intelligent young man became a monster. I will never understand what happened to him in just a couple of years.

I am always amazed at how some kids show such an appalling lack of judgement. He may well have ruined a good part of his life. On one hand social media is a cancer and on the other it did alert authorities to a possible nightmare.

Yeah, it seems like there was the possibility that he was going to do something stupid. Hopefully, that's no longer the case. Hopefully, he can get the help that he needs.
