Subscription leases have been advertised around here but only on luxury, high end cars. The deal is you make your monthly payments and one day you are driving a Panamera, the next a Range Rover, the next an S Class and so on. Cars are delivered to you with all of your personal presets in place.
|
Cars are appliances that no mortal will work on. They are not designed for us old guys. The subscription model makes good sense for younger people for whom automobiles are like clothing. A fashion statement that works by magic. Their target market does not own a toolbox or a wrench. Face it guys...were no longer in the crosshairs of the automotive industry.

It doesn't look bad, just not an instant classic. And I do NOT see how they can call it a Corvette.
|
Porsche already offers a subscription program. It’s expensive but I assume people are interested in such things.

At least there's not too much Corvette bashing here. It's like discussing a Harley on the BMW R1100S board....
I still like the C5 look, one of the best designs (other than the 60's) although it's dated, and like the Camaro it might take 40 years before they come back to it.. Then it will be electric too. https://photos.smugmug.com/Cars/2001...8dzh7DW-XL.jpg |
I guess what people think of when they hear "Corvette" varies with the times. It's not a car as much as it is a brand unto itself. An image, if you will.

Isn't this a V8 Fiero? :)

Here is an inkling of what the C8 could have been though obviously with more balanced proportions to both echo and blend the 67 and 68 Corvette.
The Shelby GR-1 concept Ford never built is coming from Superformance http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1547405328.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1547405328.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1547405328.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1547405328.jpg |

You have great taste! 68 to 72 are my favorite years. A 68 convertible will be mine someday. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1547405578.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1547405578.jpg |

We shall see, not going to assume a concept reflects production 1:1 |
I have a feeling that I'm not going to like the interior of this car. At all.
We'll see. |
There have been rumors of a mid engine Corvette for as long as i can remember. Maybe this time it is real.
Little doubt that the bang for the buck is high on a Corvette. They are everywhere, and pretty inexpensive. The mid 1970s to the mid 1980s Vettes are just horrible, and almost an embarrassment to the Vette lovers. The new cars are dang nice for the price. Just the cheap interior is the issue. Maybe the mid engine Vette will be something worthwhile. We will just have to wait. |
The Corvette C7 interior is easily 8-9/10ths of any other performance can at 2x the price, and the performance is 11/10ths.
I honestly kick myself for buying my SC over a Vette. If I wasn't such a Porsche fanboi I would not have made the choice I did. Maybe if G-body Porsches price don't drop I can get out in the future, or slap a big turbo on and wait for expensive transmission noises. LOL |
