Cayenne Transsyberia edition??? Ever hear of this one?

So few of them around, I can't figure out what it's worth.

I understand that they were made to commemorate victories by the Cayenne in the Transyberia Rally. I recall that they were an appearance package on a Cayenne S with some off road add-ons. Not sure if that makes them any more desirable though.

+1

Although branded as an "S", I think they were basically a GTS (including PASM as standard and the factory GTS tune/HP bump), with a few extra bits/bobs. I think the colors were limited to silver or black, with the "Transsyberia" graphics being optional, or at least "delete-able". You got skid plates and tow package as standard along with alcantara interior trim and steering wheel. They were certainly a limited run and should command a decent premium over a standard S, but probably not much of a premium over a standard GTS, though I haven't kept up with their pricing trends.

I agree with Eric, super rare and should carry a premium. Though they aren’t exactly pretty either. I’d drive one just for the rarity cool factor.

Rare, cool, weird. What’s not to love?

The Siberian winters really took a toll on those plastic headlight lenses.

My thoughts exactly. This one has 125K on it, which is more miles than I'm willing to buy for $18K, but I'd definitely drive one. Hmm... wonder if my GF would be seen in it.

I did some reading and it sounds like there's an off road package that was available that would make it even more rare:

"...this kit includes a locking rear differential, rock rails, a reinforced "engine bay guard" and reinforced protection for the fuel tank and rear diff."

Couldn't give em away when they were new.

To the untrained eye (mine), it looks like a teenager went it with a spray can !...not impressed.

The RS America couldn't be given away either when new... Just saying..

You would be amazed at what my buddy paid for this when he bought it new from Brumos:eek:http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1547578502.jpg

How cool...yet another "special edition" Porsche. Hey, almost as cool as a "California Special" Mustang!

I have owned both a 93 RSA and a 94 Speedster. I also happened to have worked for Porsche back when the Cayenne TSE was collecting dust on our lot.

If you think the RSA was a tough sale back in the day, try the 94 Speedster. I bought mine in Feb of 1996 with 6000 miles on it. I found plenty of them sitting still new on dealers lots around the country. I ended up paying peanuts for mine.

Yeah, I think that was a popular option on those. If you are actually going to used a Pepper for off-road duties, I'd think that would be a must-have option. Pretty cool too, as it's not just locking diffs...It also allows you to remotely disengage the ARBs for more articulation. If you are looking at pics online, I think the easiest way to tell if one is so-optioned is if it has the little "articulated suspension" logo on the PASM cluster (which is the ARB disengage button).

I would definitely grab one if the price was right, but I'd probably seek out one without the graphics package. YMMV...

An offroad "GTS" as someone mentioned. Many valuable and rare offroad pieces. Questionable graphics. Didn't sell well. Did help firm up Porsches "off road" credentials.

This one did pretty well.
