I know it's off topic but it's in regards to a post a very long time back asking our Help in keeping an eye open for a missing child, Elizabeth Smart.
I just heard that she has been found and is being re-united with her family.
Nothing short of a miracle.

I originally posted the plea for help in finding Elizabeth last May. I live very near the place that she was found today, and i'm amazed and releaved that she was found alive. Thanks to everyone that kept an eye out for her, and didn't forget about her. I saw her face on billboards, posters, etc every day for the last 9 months! I still can't believe that she was found alive. The one thing that people can still do is to ask your represanitives to pass the national Rachael alert bill that will help get information out to the public about cases like this.

Amazing news, sadly these things don't usually end this well. From what I saw on the news earlier, we are dealing w/ a deeply strange character in the abductor, I hope to God that he did not harm her besides the obvious kidnapping.

I believe that the law is called the "Amber alert" bill, refering to freeway signs. :cool:

I think your right on the Amber alert bill. It has been called both here in Utah, and I think one is a local alert, while the other is a National thing.

Weird thing on the guy that took her is that he is well known to many people as "Jesus Guy" and was not really feared. The other strange thing is that they apperently kept her in the mountains above her home (3 miles or so) for months untill the weather got bad. They then went out of state and just returned now that the weather is better.

I heard the news while working a Soccer game today. Great news, and a big relief.

For some reason the Elizabeth Smart abduction really touched me last year when the news broke. Seems that at the time, there were many such kidnappings, rapes and murders. Thank God that she is alive!

Here in NJ, we have the Amber Alert active. AND IT WORKS! Just last week, a father kidnapped his daughter from his ex-wife. Because of the Amber alert, they were able to track the guy in a stolen truck from around Paterson, to West NJ, and finally down to South Jersey, where the girl was saved and the man was taken into custody.

I hope the Amber / Rachael alert it put into place nationally.
