Too big to fail

Damn porch pirates!
Luckily it wasn't anything horribly valuable - some motor oil for the X3, and a switch and starting capacitor for my dust collector motor.

That totally sucks IMO.
How soon after it was dropped off did they show up? Were they following the delivery truck around town?

I considered that; one was delivered via UPS, about 2 hours prior, the 2nd via Amazon, about 30 minutes prior.

He just pretended to drop and pick something up so that he could look back the way he came to see if he was being watched or followed.

Its really stupid that people do that. I havnt heard much of it going on in my area but seems a huge problem right now. Theres so many ways to get free stuff legally. I pick garbage and dumpsters sometimes and i made 15k in 2018 selling on ebay and I still have alot of it.

I think porch pirating is the modern version of horse rustling.
And the punishment should be the same.

I still love that NASA engineer's method of dealing with these guys...
It seems like it would be real easy to rig up a cardboard box with a hidden switch (to turn it off), a 9v battery, a micro switch that turns on when it is picked up, a $2 time delay, a car airbag, and a whole bunch of dog chit... I think a dog chit bomb that went off 30 seconds after the parcel was picked up would probably have most porch pirates questioning their career choices... Whatever happened with the garbage can neighbors? I might have just come up with a solution to that problem too...

I think I’d be terrified to try to get even after this... especially if you have their photo.

He looks a little "Light in the loafers". I think he needed the oil for lubrication more than the Beemer.

I love the "I'm walking fast" gait. See, if you *run* to the porch, someone will notice you. But, you can "walkfast" all day long and no one will bat an eye...

What a POS ! I have no tolerance for thieves
Our youngest son in Orlando had that happen at his apartment , they got away with some laundry soap gee I hope that helped feed your drug problem . He now has all deliveries come to his place of work . I would have no problem dropping thieves into a swamp of alligators !!!

Idiots keep this kind of stuff up and people will install package delivery slots. A door with a chute that packages can go in, but people can't and they can't get the packages back out. There is a reason mail slots got put in instead of using mail boxes.
Or maybe you packages will get delivered to local package stores like the UPS stores that you can stop and pick up packages sent to you instead of just dropping them off to send,

I'm typically loath to send letters of complaint, but I made an exception with our local television news stations and their use of the term "Porch Pirates". Perhaps it shouldn't, but use of the term bothers me.
People who are nothing more than low-life thieves should not be called anything other than low-life thieves. And they absolutely should not be referred to by some cutsie appellation that gives the impression that these low-life thieves are somehow different than other low-live thieves. It might be worth noting that I've not been the victim of this type of low-life thief - I just don't like low-life thieves. _
