People don’t drink coffee anymore

Wow! I’m at the Oakland airport.

Dragged in early in the AM. (Maiden voyage thru TSA precheck- I’m a fan!)

Getting coffee. We listened in line. I was 15 people deep. Not a single person in front of me ordered drip coffee. That blender lady was crushing it. Not so sure they clean the blender between loads.

I never knew strawberry cappuccino was a thing! Those fancy drinks really slow the process down.

Btw, the only win at Starbucks is the tiny “short” size. Damn near perfect for me.

I take my coffee black and strong. No additives, sweeteners, syrups, etc. I usually just get my fix at the local Chevron station.

Can't comment in the coffee since I don't drink it, but the TSA pre-check is a 100% must in my book. If you plan to take more than one trip in the next 5 years, do it. At worst it will save you a few minutes, at best, could save hours!

I'm with the Craigster above. On my 3rd cup. Black. Just coffee, dammit. All that weird effeminate iced blended spiced frothed milked fruity stuff is for, well, politeness won't allow me to say it.

Check out the calorie count on some of those fancy drinks. Frappuchino, Coolata...drinking those things is like eating a Big Mac.

I am with you. Black standard coffee, not charbucks. Any 7-11 or McDonalds has way better coffee than Charbucks. And I can get a medium size cup and not have to call it some made up name.

There was a recent study published in journal called Appetite that coupled preference for bitter taste (black coffee) with a list of ugly characteristics.

Finishing off my second cup of black Nespresso coffee before heading to the basement to spread more lime on the bodies.

Plain coffee, add some milk or half and half or cream, just a splash

Generally never go near a $tarbuck$ but if it is the only option, small plain black no "room" - if I'm paying $3 for a cup of coffee, I want a full cup of coffee, not 3/4 of it.

Abstract
In two studies, we investigated how bitter taste preferences might be associated with antisocial personality traits. Two US American community samples (total N = 953; mean age = 35.65 years; 48% females) self-reported their taste preferences using two complementary preference measures and answered a number of personality questionnaires assessing Machiavellianism, psychopathy, narcissism, everyday sadism, trait aggression, and the Big Five factors of personality. The results of both studies confirmed the hypothesis that bitter taste preferences are positively associated with malevolent personality traits, with the most robust relation to everyday sadism and psychopathy. Regression analyses confirmed that this association holds when controlling for sweet, sour, and salty taste preferences and that bitter taste preferences are the overall strongest predictor compared to the other taste preferences. The data thereby provide novel insights into the relationship between personality and the ubiquitous behaviors of eating and drinking by consistently demonstrating a robust relation between increased enjoyment of bitter foods and heightened sadistic proclivities.

In the Boise airport, they have a $3 self service area for people who just want coffee.

astrochex 01-20-2019 07:02 AM

Once you go black, you’ll never go back.

The premise that black coffee is bitter is a fallacy perpetrated by *&$#bucks and its clones.

WPOZZZ 01-20-2019 07:09 AM

I prefer my coffee like my cars and women, cheap.
