Babblenow trips my antivirus/security.
Went to check it out.

I don't know what babblenow is Bill.

Go to babbel.com.

If you can speak a little Spanish or Italian, you will pick up French pretty quick.

Shaun @ Tru6 02-05-2019 06:04 PM

German

LOL... Just me being way too literal....

Will check babbel.com

The problem that I have with other languages and the one that I kind of know how to speak is knowing how to pronounce something I cannot hear.
Having somewhat compromised hearing for most of my life, I need things written down phonetically for me to have a hope of pronouncing it correctly.

My wife was at one time able to speak 4 or 5 languages.

Mein Gott, spreche kein Deutsche

Get the Google translate app. You can use the camera to translate signs/menus to English or vice versa.

Have fun!

Enjoy. Post a pic or two.

Just a hint of trying will get you favorable payback.

They tolerate Americans way more than the English from stories.

Montreal, '86. On company dime. Walked down into a sweet basement restaurant. (I have my jogging shoes on.)

We muster the best Bonsoir we can and the maitre d' asks, "Table for two"?

Mitch, thanks, I'm downloading that app too. I am sure it will come in handy.

Bob, will be taking a ton of pics, you can be sure of that.

Quick update mostly to say how great getting an Airbnb is vs. hotel. At least getting the right bnb owner. I'm staying in the Opera section, relatively close to everything include a few blocks off the Seine.

What is really special is how much my Airbnb owner is helping including recommending great non-tourist restaurants, places to see and he's even making a reservation for me at Robert et Louise of Bourdain's first No Boundaries episode fame (I called and got an answering machine). I am fairly certain I'll be spending as much on food as flight and apartment.

Packed and ready to go.
