Black Armour. Carbon helmets at fiberglass prices.

You want max protection an least weight. Everything past that is marketing.

If you want marketing - thats cool - then go Stilo.

Thanks for that, Black Armour looks like a good option. Never heard of them until now.

I got off my butt and drove over to ProAm in Houston. They carry G-Force, Racequip, and Simpson. I didn't like the G-Force or Racequip at all. The Simpson fit like a glove (and like my old Shoei helmets). The quality of the Simpson was noticeably better too. I wish I'd tried Simpson years ago when I bought a Bell Dominator that never felt right. I guess at the time I couldn't get past the goofy look of the Simpsons.

Bought the Voyager:

That is the company I was thinking of in my post above.

I'm sure my Snell is out of date but I was on my 2nd Simpson. Great helmets.

All I can say is get the lightest one that fits. With 20 years of racing under my belt, I can't count the guys who have developed neck trouble (including me with a cervical fusion). The lighter the helmet, the lower the chances of cervical spine issues.

Stand 21 makes one with interchangeable foam pad inserts that weighs like 2 lb. You can customize the fit perfectly. If you're going to do several track days a year, do not go cheap on a helmet. I think it's called the IVOS Double Duty.

Bingo, lightweight is better for fatigue and in case of impact. Full face is the way to go.

HANS is a must but you need to have 4+ point seatbelts.

I have used Bell, Simpson, GForce, .. and most recently a Stilo. The Stilo fits me best and its light.

Keep in mind that each helmet has a different shape thus not one size fits all.

I purchase my stuff at www.murraymotorsport.com great prices and service.

one note, not all carbon is the same...

I have an HJC carbon helmet, after years of using Arais. I like it a lot, and it fits like the Arai. Quality appears fine, and the inserts are removable for replacement/washing.
