Roll bar options
So, I have to build the roll bar on the car and I am replacing a bolt on/slip joint that is chrome. I like the chrome look, but as far as I am away you cant really chrome plate them on the car. Does anyone have any experience with other coatings that would look like chrome? I see them from Eastwood, Alsa, Motostorm and so forth. Some are paint and some are a silver process similar to silvering a mirror. Do they last for a weekend car?
The other option is to paint which would be OK but not as nice. It is going on a Cobra replica. I am having a full width 4 point roll bar with the diagonal tube behind the driver for reference. Color is a dark purple, Like Stryker Purple on the Viper but darker as in nearly black. 3m Wicked is a wrap the correct color. |
maybe nickle plate it or fab from stainless and polish?

Never thought of Stainless. Clear over it.

If you choose stainless, make sure it will meet spec's for your use. I remember reading about roll bars some time ago and stainless came up for discussion. IIRC, there were grade choices related to properties to consider.

Duracoat makes a shiny chrome spray on. Not sure how chip resistant, but very heat resistant, etc.
