Massive data - Google

Google+ is going away. I know, who cares. BUT, I decided to download my data before the application is removed. Google has almost 17GB of data. 17GB!

The following link will let you download your data!

Im confused. What exactly is Goggle +? I have gmail, etc, and I went to that site and it lists gmail, bookmarks, etc. How do i know if I have anything in there to download>?

red-beard 01-31-2019 06:24 PM

Another social media platform. It was supposed to compete with Facebook. Google is shutting the service down in April.

rattlsnak 01-31-2019 07:15 PM

ok, so i'm assuming it doesnt effect all my other google data , like forms, email, drive, etc?

red-beard 01-31-2019 08:32 PM

No other data affected

I've got a couple of friends (both in 80's) who are still on AOL which makes me wonder who will be the last person on AOL ?

I am technology averse, and still use my AOL mail account daily...no problems, so why change ?

I fully understand that...
I just mentioned that because of an article I read a year or so ago about a lot of confusion about whether or not you had to continue to pay AOL a monthly fee as apparently a lot of AOL users were and it apparently wasn't necessary but AOL never told anyone... and their support was terrible.. ,
I have no personal knowledge of it one way or another.
Carry on...

:D:D LOL. They dont know this JackDidley.

I will put it this way. I have never registered for google accounts of any kind. If they have my search history, there is that but they dont have my name address and shoe size unless they got it from a third party.

Google has access to credit card data now. The camel's head in the tent.

https://www.pymnts.com/google/2018/access-mastercard-purchase-data/
The deal gives Google an ability to measure the impact digital ads have on physical retail spending unlike any of its rivals. It could also raise privacy issues since Google has been using and acquiring the data behind the scenes without the permission of the consumers.

They claim it's 'blind' data but that's nonsense.
(A.I. you've come a long way baby)

https://www.forbes.com/sites/adamtanner/2013/07/22/how-just-a-zip-code-can-tell-a-marketer-exactly-who-you-are/
So how does your ZIP code fit into all of this? Just knowing a birthdate, gender and ZIP code is enough information to identify as many as 87 percent of people in the United States, according to pioneering data privacy work done by Harvard Professor Latanya Sweeney.

Not just identity but predictive behavior analysis.
https://www.pnas.org/content/110/15/5802
Private traits and attributes are predictable from digital records of human behavior

The s**t gets really thought-crime really fast...

JackDidley 02-02-2019 07:29 PM

Wow, I dont even blame google for that. That is all on the credit card companies. I buy darned near everything on my cards. Too late to rethink that too.:mad:
