"...the greatest stock car drivers in the world" can't put together 10 laps without a crash.

It's the cars. They showed the clips from '79 where it took three hard licks from Yarborough to wreck Allison on the last lap. Now, just the breeze of a nearby car causes a crash.

This. They are driving at the handling limit the whole race. The rules have set up this situation on purpose to make for "exciting racing".

I gave up years ago but watched the last 20 laps. Boring until the big one happens.

The 10 car was a spark machine.

Good race, was really pulling for Dibendetto even though I don't like Toyota in NASCAR.
Not a fan of plate races too.

They said that next race they start using a bigger rear spoiler which should help keep them planted and slow em down a little. Daytona was the last race with the restricter plate, going to a tapered bore plate

I was a actually enjoying this race and was happy there were not many yellows. Sad that the engineering makes these wrecks happen. Run too close, aero gets weird, bad things happen. Not much different than Formula 1, just that you n F 1 they spread out so nothing happens. Let’s face it, racing was entertaining when guys tried Ideas they “thought” would work, now, with computers and modeling this is what we end up with.

I say this in all seriousness , if trucks are the number 1 seller in America, why not make the top series trucks? Extra cabs, crew cabs, bed length could add variety if not regulated don’t win to the last 1/64 of an inch . I don’t want to see any racing diminished, the sport has enough problems already

400 miles of good racing. Side by side, quite a bit. . It gets near the end, they take chances that seldom work out.

I have seen lots of SCCA showroom stock racing back in the 80s and 90s. People lined up at the concession stands to keep from watching. Booooooriiiing.

Here. Stock cars or mostly stock cars on an oval.

Used to watch that all the time when I did nights. The announcer is funny.

The last two laps were great . Next year....I won't even tune in for the last 10 laps...2 hours (it seemed) . I'll see the good parts on the local news in just a couple of minutes....less total bs

Yes, and let me add a few more:

- Using the word "stages" from rally racing is stupid. They aren't stages
- Pandering to the casual fans by having "overtime" and "the playoffs". What's next, offsides, touchdowns, and free-throws?
- Mustangs, Camaros and Supras? You're kidding, right?

NASCAR could be good. They need to get back to their roots.

This would be a far better solution than putting Mustang and Camaro stickers on generic bodies with no relationship whatsoever to the street cars. Would likely draw Chrysler back into the game too.

I tend to watch smaller events.

I'm about 50% through the Bathurst 12HR.

Time attack Japanese events can be fun to watch.

For the most part, if it is big on telly here in the U.S. I'm not likely to watch.

Doesn't mean there aren't things we enjoy.

I liked NASCAR a lot up until the year there were 13 cars in a 12 car chase. That wasn't right, that was manipulation for $$$ of having Jeff Gordon air time. Since then they've worked even more manipulation into their system. Not for me.

The NFL is the biggest fish.

Instead of making their own way NASCAR is copy copy.

Problem is the NFL is shrinking, NASCAR can have great ingredients again if they just stop with the fake.
