I salvaged glass from a couple of old thermopane windows and installed them in the frames for the cold frame (pictured at the top of the previous page). Since the middle two lites hinge to the sides, I thought it best to add some mechanical fasteners around the perimeter. After bedding the glass in latex caulk, I drilled the frames for small brads then added more caulk. To seat the brads I used a large pair of channel lock pliers to gently push them into depth. Worked like a charm. I hate using a hammer around old glass.
Now I'm just waiting for the weather to warm up enough to get it set up where she wants it.

Just doing the best I can for as long as I can.

Repairing a broken seat bottom on a teak outdoor chair using JB Weld clear two part epoxy. Both side rails were split.

The guy across the street two lots over has been moving stuff off his property for a month or so now.

Leaving multiple garbage cans with wood trim in them at the curb.

They moved in a year or so back but I've never met them.

By all appearances it looks like he's bugging out.

This afternoon he was up on his roof taking a sledge hammer to his chimney. Really whacking away. Looked like the chimney was winning....lol....

His shingles are all torn up so I'm expecting a re-roof job in the near future.

Will try to get some pics...and maybe a vid if he starts on that chimney again...that was some pretty good entertainment. ;)

Hey my neighbor has a dumpster out front. He must have gotten his chimney demoed because I don't see it anymore.

Maybe it's going to be remodeled?

Guy, is it just me or should the shop that did the annual on that have their certification lifted?
Screwing around like that can get someone killed.
How do you handle something like that?

Maybe it was an inspector, maybe it was someone else. There isn't any way to know beyond speculation... it'll be right and have a complete annual when it leaves. That's what matters at this point.

The worst thing that could have happened was a forced landing in the desert....

The bride calls me the un-effer.... probably has something to do with my ocd.

Anyone ever try to Weld Plastic together?

Hit a tree with my ATV and shattered the 1/8" thick front fender.

Just bought a Harbor Freight welding kit that uses a heating element to melt steel mesh on the backside along the cracks. For $20 going to use that steel mesh as a base foundation to lock together the jigsaw pieces of Humpty Dumpty.

Going to have to be careful not to melt through the top coat. Hope to save the fender color of Immersion Blue that was only made for 2007 2008. So used ones on the market are rare or unobtainium.

Anyone played with one of these?

I just used a short section of nail in a small soldering iron to melt and blend plastic in the nose of my Craftsman lawn mower. It was only 30 w and took a while.

First was Saturday and time for a new garden for my master gardener wife. 1.6 tons of rock delivered.

The new one is made of the same rock used on the last flowerbed extension into the yard. The rock comes from a quarry in SE Oklahoma. We built the first one several years ago.

I asked Mrs. Carrera three times if she wanted a sprinkler head inside the new flowerbed. She was sure she did not. Then today, guess what, she changed her mind to want one in there. So I had to go get a taller spray head, and dig under the new wall, and move the head inside. It will water the garden and the yard. But of course I asked if she wanted it in the middle, and she said yes. So I dug a hole and then she decided it needs to be off center so she can plant a blacklace elderberry dead center. So dig one more shallow hole, and the sprinkler head is there. No more change orders!

The new flowerbed is where a tree was that had to be removed from ice storm damage. So all of the area is FULL of tree roots. It is really fun too dig through roots. ;)

I covered the hose with chips from the wall build to help prevent damage to the hose when she is planting.

Then she said while you are out here in work clothes, lets see if we can find the leak in the Koi pond. I found it. The glass tube that protects the UV bulb broke. That fried the UV bulb and the connector as well. I just capped the fitting with a 1 inch threaded cap. to be 100% sure that is what was leaking.

For right now, no UV bulb in place but it was fried and non functional anyway. We have a new bulb, but I need a new socket and glass tube as well before I can put it back together. That has to happen fairly soon.

Next is a trip to the soil place to get a pickup load of "rich mix" soil made from compost of cow crap. And then we get to shovel in in one wheelbarrow load at a time to bring it to several inches below the top. That will be a lot of fun.

She has already bought some plants to plant in the new garden. Soon it will look like this one.
