Replaced the outside gaskets from the mirror to the door on the MINI. There were sections where they were missing. My first Pelican Parts purchase and very easy to replace after the manual showed the mirror rotates in two directions.

The clothes hanger in MrsWD's closet was hanging down at a 45 degree angle when we moved into this place 2 years and 2 weeks ago. Personally, I store my bathrobe in a handy pile on the floor, but MrsWD has a thing about hanging her clothes up. For 2 years and 2 weeks I've been saying to her, "I have to get around to fixing that someday." Well, today was the day!
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1580055825.jpg The ugly-ass hook was hanging at a 45 degree angle. It is attached through holes at 12, 4, and 7 clock positions. The installer used moly bolts in the two lower holes and a toggle bolt in the top. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1580055825.jpg The reason it was hanging down was obvious. The installer had screwed the "wings" on the toggle bolt on backwards. It never held a thing. |
It's taken me longer to fix things simpler than that.

I amazed myself today. I reflowed the dry solder joints on the display on my old Yamaha DSP A1 integrated amp. 103 joints. It now works again after slowly fading away over the years.

Cue the laughter, but yes I'm fixing this thing (again!):

I’m finishing some work up on this 1975 Honda XL 250. There is a vintage motorcycle show down in Lawrence Kansas this weekend and the theme is single cylinder motorcycles. Mine is definitely not going to be in the show queen category.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1580413538.jpg

I mentioned in another thread I have sold my model railroading stuff. I held onto a locomotive my father had and a couple of pieces of rolling stock. I had a piece of glass cut today and made a little display case to fit under a shelf.
My wife did some backgrounds in watercolor and I put it together this evening. Sorry for the glare.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1580423042.jpg Best Les |
I like that little train diorama. Honor thy Father!

Plumbing at my house today - both toilets getting new internals and new stop valves.
Yesterday I power washed Mom's driveway...... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1580569023.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1580569023.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1580569023.JPG |
Soooooooooooo glad January is over. Did a BUNCH of insulating after a blower door test. Replaced a well pump because the damn check valve failed. Had to replace front calipers on the F250 because the passenger side was seized and the drivers side had cracks in the seals. One of the replacement calipers blew a seal when I pumped up the brakes for bleeding! Did I mention I'm really glad January is over with?

James. Can you fab a fairly thin cover on the outside (or both sides) of aluminum to screw, rivet, ??? to reinforce that aluminum casting? Maybe JB weld the broken parts together and reinforce it with an aluminum plate. |
Baz,
I asked the Mrs to do a number of background paintings. I measured out the dimensions on a large sheet of art paper and drew a light horizon line on each panel. Since it is a matter of removing seven screws to gain access to the background I didn't remove the one that is in at the moment. I would describe it as having a brighter sky with more yellow and gold , suggesting a sunset. Here are the others. The tops were left blank as they curve into the top to reflect light.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1580599921.jpg Best Les |
Those are nice, Les. Perfect in fact. Thanks for the reply and pics and please pass along my admiration for the beautiful work by the Mrs. I love art like this! :)

Built a set of aluminum shocks with my son to replace the plastic ones that came with the truck.

Bought a Ryobi drain auger and cleaned out my kitchen sink drain pipe which started draining slow on me this past week. I had a hand powered unit but decided to upgrade and am happy with my decision because this unit worked great!

Just finished a 4 wheel (rotors and pads) brake job on my 2011 VW Touareg. Can't believe how much dirt/sand was caked (frozen) on the inside of the rear wheels. I'd bet close to 3 pounds worth.
