I built this door. This kind of work is not really my forte, but it came out ok. I’ve since added 1x4 casing around the door.

It’s in a flood zone, so most of the wood is treated in this area. Not the best grade wood.

The right rear brake on my EZ-GO golf cart was grabbing and locking up the wheel.

I don't know what was wrong with these shoes, but I sanded the hell out of them and now the brakes don't grab.

Are you sure they are opening enough? Even smooth shoes should stop that little thing...

AC compressor belt went out on the Silverado. Arrived today but like an idiot I didn't check the tensioner until I went to install the new belt and of course the tensioner is toast so have one of those coming tomorrow and will try again.

Rookie mistake.

Warming up in these parts so gotta get that work truck AC going again!

I hear ya but I hardly ever have to work on my Silverado......the thing is so freaking reliable! :D

I wasn't even sure it was the belt until today - the day the new belt was delivered.

Anyway.....no biggie. Live and learn, right? ;)

I did get the carbs back on my RC15 this morning and am super stoked about that! Can be a bit tricky on a V4 engine!

Havnt done anything on this car the past few years but brought it back in the shop and got a few things going. I mounted the steering wheel and the passenger door. Also made little supports on the back of the rear fenders they were kinda floppy and mounted some headlights. Then I made the front fenders. So Iv got to figure out how to mount them and cover the suspension area without the tire rubbing when turned. Also made part of the tunnel cover. I still need to do a throttle and brake pedal and all the lincage to the rear brakes. They are mechanical with rods no hydraulics. Id like to integrate two hand brakes on the outside of the cowl to act as skidder brakes so that will be a challenge. Also need to do a shifter and a seperate one for reverse. Also finish up the grill and a front bumper and make a windshield. I made one before but it looked too jeepish so im going to make some brooklands style ones I think. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1714953374.JPG

Almost ready for the beach!!! I just have a couple of things to tweak, and I'm going to change the mainsheet and halyard with the teal green rope pictured here. I found it at my local Ace Hardware, and it looks like it matches the teal in the sail pretty closely. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...15aea42ace.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f10cd12944.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...bb12887fc2.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...a81cbcfa8a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...a7d69c8519.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...925171a142.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...1eb5bd3f3f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...e42b4a9e6b.jpg

That little boat looked like this at the Goodwill store. I set it up when I got it home. The sail still has some light staining in the white part, I am hoping it will brighten up a little more in the sunlight. One thing for sure, the sail is a whole lot cleaner now than when I first got it. Lol. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...575c5a5332.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...63bc6bfb35.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...e7bbda16e8.jpg

Mission accomplished on the AC work.

The only thing now is the compressor clutch seems to be cycling on and off more than it should be.

Will check the cabin filter tomorrow and then maybe the refrigerant level.

I already replaced one of the pressure switches and then tested the other one with the paper clip bypass trick.

I am getting cool air into the cabin so making progress, I think.

I'm headlong into a 1949 RCA bakelite table radio they call the All American Five for its five tubes and no transformer. This is a new hobby that I've been pursuing for a little more than 18 months. That's about 14 months of reading and study and a couple months with my hands on a "hot" chassis radio. Needed help to finish my first, a Crosley from '48. Haven't gotten a signal yet on the RCA but I have static. That's halfway there I guess.

The garbage disposal drain backed up today at the rental condo I’m staying in St. Pete’s. No tools except for a pair of pliers I found in a fishing tackle box. Used the pliers to remove locking ring so disposal can be removed. Found blockage at drain at common tee-y fitting. Took drain apart cleared blockage and re-assembled everything. All fixed water now draining.
Rental is from a co-worker that gave us a deal on the rental. That’s the only reason why I fixed it.
Sorry, no pics.

HobieMarty 05-07-2024 04:50 AM

This radio belonged to my grandparents and is at the cabin, I think it is a Philco, but I don't remember. I plugged it up once and something popped and the cord was smoldering, lol. I always planned to see what it would take to fix it, but as it sits, it is a display piece. By the way, that is a small glass lamp sitting on top of it and is not part of the radio's design. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...5f573564e2.jpg

You don't plug in old radios that have sat not working for years. If that has a transformer you likely toasted it and it's not worth anything more than something to look at and hold that glass lamp.

Did I always know this? Of course not.

Transformers are hard to find and when you do they are spendy. The value of old radios has plummeted to 10 and 20 dollars for table sets and 50 for nice old consoles unless they are already gone through. And then the cost of having one worked by another exceeds any value. I might say greatly exceeds any value. There are a few exceptions, of course.

We are using my son's Santa Fe to haul the little Snark to the beach. I slid the front cross bar all the way forward and wrapped the crossbars with foam pipe insulation and zip tied into place. I also made some tie down points for the front. Getting there.
Looks like we will be painting his hood in the near future, lol. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...69b956336c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...4613f48218.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...791f800627.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...c555fa9413.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...4f48e81303.jpg

Got a panicked text last evening from an elderly lady who lives alone. Her water system wasn't working. I packed up a bunch of stuff I thought I might need and the Missus went up. A quick check revealed the foot valve in her well was stuck. I managed to move it around enough to dislodge whatever was causing the problem. Happy Birthday to her. :D

Nice work, Big Les!

Karma drive a big bus and knows where you live! :)

==========

Stopped at my mechanics today so he could look at the Silverado's AC. He said it was low on freon but wanted to vacuum it - so he did and then added a couple cans and a half. I added 2 more when I got home and it's nice and frosty again. ;)

He had asked me about getting some more plants for his "patio" - which is really what we in the business refer to as an outside living area. This is right behind his shop - his RV so he can live there. Pretty sweet little setup! So I brought him 5 of my bromeliads I had in stock. I repotted them before bringing them over so he'd be set for a while. He was pretty stoked and so was I! ;)

He's going to build some kind of display stand for them and told me he wants to add another palm or two....

No pics, but I replaced the condensate pumps on my HVAC air handlers today. One died last year, so I figured it was a good idea to replace both.

Haha... that would be cool, if only there were stacks of cash available for retired church folding tables with leftover urethane paint splashed and dribbled all over them.;)
I dump the excess paint on stuff around the shop rather than letting it harden off in the trash can...

Finished the bench. Pressure-treated wood isn’t pretty, but it works in the flood zone.

After making an E-waste run this morning to get rid of the cable boxes and some old AAA batteries, I decided to see if I could get my dad's old Craftsman dual action sander going again.
Got it to turn on with a little electrical contact spray cleaner shot down the switch, but all that did was get the motor running.
Took it apart to see what the bunch of rocks in a coffee can sound was being caused by.
Looks like it's toast to me.
What do you think?
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1715283163.JPG
To top it all off, I was using his old pocket knife which I've had for a long long time, in a manner in which it wasn't supposed to be used.
I broke the tip off the small blade.
This knife is older than I am as it has a leash on it that I think he wove when he was in the Navy, which was way before my time.
I will get a professional to regrind the tip back onto it.
I'm sorry Dad, I know better than to use a knife in that manner.:(

That doesn't look like the pressure treated wood I'm used to seeing or using.

Nice job!
I think I'd be staining it and putting a good coat of varnish on it if it were mine.

Then keeping it putting green perfect with a trimmer... few things are as satisfying.

Love it too! Woke up to some fresh mole tunnels this morning. Don't love that. I put down some insecticide for grubs and worms a couple of weeks ago which usually works to control moles. Guess I need to widen the spread. They came in from the beds.
