Remounting wheels on a vacuum cleaner. After 8 years or so the tabs on the hub got brittle and started to snap off, allowing the wheels to part company with the chassis. I dropped in to the dealer and he said he would order a couple of new wheels for me. Later he advised me there was only one in the warehouse and it would be a week or so arriving. When I stopped to pick it up, we quickly realized there had been a design change and there was no way this wheel could be adapted. The poor guy could only apologize for the waste of my time.
Plan B: I bored out the wheel centers and used epoxy to secure bushings. That went well. Next step is cementing a nut in the center of the mounting position on the machine.
This isn't the first time I have done this. Thirty years ago the same thing happened with a Kenmore machine. It got the same fix, but I scrapped it when the motor packed it in.
A few years ago I was thrilled to see a sign for an Electrolux dealer. I was soon disappointed when I was advised they no longer sold vacuum cleaners, just kitchen appliances.

A little more work on the driver side floorboard. I cut a piece off luan to add rigidity to the existing floorboard. I’ve got a small piece. I need to glue where it mounted to the floor and then I will sand off all the excess wood around the edges. Stained black and then reinstall*

^ the stud broke off at the floor when I removed it, so I need to mount a new stud. Anybody have any ideas?

The new fuel pump came today, so hopefully I’ll get that in this weekend

I'm doing a garage makeover. I'm going from old to old. How does that work? I guess I'll have to post pics. Started with adding 2 more rollaway tool box lower units in line as the base for a workbench made out of 90 YO lumber. How do I know it's 90? Came from the bench built when the garage was built in 1934. All the same lumber for studs and joists, old growth Douglas Fir.

Made a little more progress today. I need to stain one small piece and then slot a hole for the stud.

I bought the fixture in the picture below from our host, and was thinking of what I could use to adhere it to the floorboard. I’ve also seen a round base with a threaded rod, but I can’t find it online

Edit. Yes, I think clickbond is it. Thanks

Used up some lengths of left over flooring and bits of the pressure treated lumber from the float I found in the river last spring to build an insulated box to hold a water bucket in the horse's stall so the water doesn't freeze on cold nights. Wife says it looks OK. There's a couple of inches of fiberglass insulation inside.
I'll throw another one together tomorrow and try to remember to take a picture.

Replaced the two motor mounts on the 911.

Transmission mounts next weekend.

No pictures. Everybody knows what they look like.

Okay. Went out to the shop this morning and knocked together another one of these. The sides and segments around the bucket are left over flooring I got last spring. The lumber is 5/4 decking I pulled out of the river, also last spring. The only outlay was a half pound of 1 1/4" deck screws. On a really cold night the horses' water will still freeze, but not until almost morning.

Wrapped up all the control surface lacing today... I think it’s the only thing in the oratex system that I like less than other systems. The cord isn't waxed. Wax would interfere with the finishing tapes so unwaxed lacing cord is what ya use. Its a bit rough on the hands to cinch up... in hindsight a cotton glove on my right hand would have been a good fix... next time. Taping tomorrow.

What kind of sorcery is this?
I went to my x wife's house to put up some ceiling lights. Electrician already did one for $150 and told her it would be double that to do any more.
Found out why. Cast steel boxes that only accept the center type of threaded pipe.
Now she wants a swag light and the wire has to go through the pipe so it can't be tightened up like this set up needs. Plus you need to counter twist the chain/wire so it sits right after threading it on.
Took me 3 hours of trying different things!

My old house had those boxes. They’re not easy to remove. Let’s just say I got good at repairing plaster

Did she not get the memo that she's an EX wife?
