Not all is joy in Bullittville

I believe a Ford dealer is going to regret blowing this guy off...

(edit) Loved the "more scoring than the Browns" comment.

Sorry but I don't think that amount of cylinder wall scoring is anything to get worked up about. The Ford owner talks about the 'rattle' getting worse and yet he has all of 3500 miles on the car. If he really does have that much damage progression it won't be long before the engine is junk. Case closed. If he is simply over-stressed about piston slap then he needs to read more. And if he is a racer, he doesn't deserve a warranty.

He just needs to change the oil and put it out of his mind. Who's to say the next motor will be any better?

At least no IMS bearing to worry about.

Actually, my lowly '09 4.6 has been remarkably trouble free.

I believe I read that the '19's use hyperutectic pistons, so shouldn't that mean less slap than with forged? Dealership service managers are coached to say "they all do that" until the car is past warranty.

+1
What that car needs is a good Italian tune up. If the "rattle" goes away he learned how to drive his car. If it blows up, he gets a new motor courtesy of FoMoCo.
Drive it like you stole it until the warranty runs out.
