Coincidence

Funny timing, I just sold this '66 Baja Bug on Thursday. It's been sitting on my trailer for a few months since it was basically given to me by a friend who needed to get it out of his yard. "Ran when parked" and it actually did run well once I put a battery in it, good 1600 DP and transaxle. Cool Empi shifter I should have kept.

It went to some movie car guys near by who are building the cars for the next Fast and Furious franchise flick, a couple of doors away from Jay Leno's garage. I thought about putting it back on the road myself but too many other wheeled projects and not enough time or interest.

There is an incredible thread on The Samba.

These two women did everything possible wrong in up fixing their VW. Somewhere around page 15 or so they had serious problems with CPI. I have an order in with them now. We’ll see.

Do you have some kind of rain cap on the stinger?
That cat looks like a ton of fun. Congrats!

Met the lady at a car show that owned this, she has been all over the world in it

I've always wanted a Baja Bug so congratulations on your new toy

Very cool! I've always wanted a bug. Maybe after I get done with my current project.

Looks like a fun car, enjoy.

Add another $600 bug to the list, I bought an orange 1976 Super Beetle in 1985, only had it for around six months but loved it.

Guys - thanks for all of the positive comments.

I spent a good chunk of yesterday fiddling with it. It seems to be very strong.

I still need to synch my carbs and dial in the timing. I have no idea what cam is in there so I’m guessing on the timing. It seems to be happy at about 35 degrees all in at 3500 rpm.

I need to set my front brakes up - it pulls left.

It was cheaper than a side by side for the farm.

You crazy bastard.

Haha, jealous here. AND nice that all the work has fairly much been done.

If I can offer advice; put really good oil in it and don't be afraid to give it some gas and keep the rev's up :)

A little jealous here. Looks like a nice one! If I had garage space and wasn't an old man I would love to have another one. In younger years my first one was a '58 with fabric sunroof, also had 2 '56s (one I put a 912 motor in), '63, '65, '63 notchback (while in Germany) and a '68 Ghia. I had SO much fun with those cars! Like I said, I'm jealous... you're going to have fun!

Just curious what something like that is going for these days

Was at the cat show this past weekend.
There were more people around the raggedy old VW that had a V8 in the front. You can see part of the top loop that was added and it looked like it had a square frame front clip. Not sure if it was factory. I could not get close enough

The ‘German Side By Side’ works awesome for herding cows. I’ve got it running really well and it’s a hoot to drive. I have to sort out the firewall mount rear bumper and out in rear seat belts.

I also got some gauges for it.
