Suggest a Rye for a Manhattan!

I have some Laws Secale Rye, Carpano sweet vermouth, Angostura bitters, and some luxardo cherries.

I'm pretty happy with it but I'm sure you fellas will have something to say. Let's hear 'em!

Thank you

I used Woodford Reserve previously, I like Mitchers a bit better. This is for my Old Fashioned which is not far off a Manhattan which I recently had one in Austin last week.

I mix my Manhattans with Bulleit Rye. I use dry vermouth, and the Luxardo cherries are a must.

For something a little different, I mix the rye with a splash of Fernet Branca and a splash of Cointreau. I had this mix with Bourbon at a whiskey bar in Bozeman, MT and stole the recipe - only I prefer it with Rye

I think the vermouth is what makes a Manhattan I like Carpano. Of course luxardo's are a must
I like Wild Turkey 101 for whisky
Manhattans are proof that God loves me

Simple Templeton makes a good Manhattan. Just go easy on the sweet vermouth because it already is. Want some hair on it? Go for the 6 year. Feeling fancy? Basil Hayden sherry cask rye. Extra bitters needed for all..

I've been practicing,

This one is really good.

3 oz Woody Creek Rye (90 proof)
1.5 oz Carpano
2 shakes of Angostura
1 shake of Angostura Orange
One bar spoon of Luxardo syrup
2 luxardos

Really nice! Kind of basic, but i wanna start at the start.

That looks close to perfect but... I think they're better up in a Martini glass

This just in

I got some Whistle Pig and tried to make a nice basic manhattan, and it had a little too much herb-ish quality to me, and messed up that classic taste I was looking for. I think the Whistle Pig will be great with ice cubes though.

Some of the recent Whistlepig 10 year store picks are actually 13 year MGP rye. Labels are the same - you have to find out from the store or whoever picked it. Just an FYI.
