Static

My S10 truck constantly shocks my a$$ off. Static electricty builds quickly and when I touch the door to get out, zap. Sparks fly. Any ideas to stop this ??

With a lightning bolt like they did in the 60s ? It does have polyester tires.

Well, you could try de-Gaussing it.

(Might also help you avoid mines.)

I had the same with my Ranger. Sprayed the seat lightly with 'Static Guard'
That helped a lot.

How often do you have to spray ?

stevej37 03-28-2019 05:59 PM

I think I did it about every week.
To find out if it's coming from the seat...try getting in without sliding across the fabric.

Will try that. May throw a towel over the seat. It may sound humorous but it happens so often its crazy. I am going to ask my neighbor if he has noticed it, he goes a lot of places with me and he's too tall for the Porsche.

Mix liquid clothes softener (downey, etc) about 25% in water, put in spray bottle, hose it down and let it dry out. Works for carpets, etc. as well.

As a common courtesy, place several of these inside and out.

Thanks, that is easy enough.

Never tried the fabric softener...but when changing computer parts I soak down the socks and carpet, plus touch ground often.
No polyester shorts allowed.

I dry clothes in the basement in the winter and use a vent diverter to release nice-smelling hot air inside.
The furnace handles all the extra dehumidifying.
It keeps the static shocks down to a minimum.
