Next big Trip is NorCal, OR, WA and maybe Idaho, in July haven’t looked that far. A washer/dryer is still very much a possibility.

that is it?

What do you expect for a 6.7 liter V10 hauling 19,000 lbs?

Sooner or later 04-08-2019 03:17 PM

10 mpg seems to me to be pretty good.

Oh, you wanted details.

Wonderful this time of year. High of 80s low of 60s, trees starting to loom, free shuttle up the Canyo and back, about 7 miles. Free shuttle i town, parking is $20day, but an RV spot is $30, or $15 with a senior pass, electrical hookup only. Gas is $2.55/gal for regular. $3.95 in Los Angeles.

Where are all the pics of the park?

Did you see the grand tour S3 Nevada episode? Any stories from the road?

Hugh R 04-09-2019 05:49 PM

I'll try better next time on pics, my phone was intermittently working, I'm getting a new one this week.

Made it home, about 1,000 miles, no incidents.

Next trip is Palm Springs for a family reunion, none of us live there but my daughter and her hubby are heading to Coachella music festival and we're doing grandson time with the 5,3 and 0.5 year olds.

After that in July, NorCal, OR, WA and maybe Idaho.

I’ll help you out with one. It was an 8 mile 2500’ hike with this view of the valley floor http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1554873829.jpg

That looks insane but I like how scenic it looks.

Sounds like a very good first trip Hugh. Nice getting the bugs worked out.
What are the advantages you are enjoying over the previous rig?

Is the Mrs happy traveling in the RV? Is she learning to set up to camp, pack up for the road, and learning to drive it comfortably? Could ne handy in some circumstances.

It is a nice looking Coach!

Cheers Richard

Tevake,

First of all its got a longer wheel base and 22.5" tires vs 19.5. I read somewhere that the wheel base:whole body length makes a big difference on side wind issues. IIRC .58 wheel bases to total body length or more is better. Coming down the I-15 it was 40-60 mph cross winds, a few moments but it handled like a champ.

The old Coachmen was OK, but the fit and finish of this is way better, little things like side mounted underside hinges for the cabinets, versus ones you have to swing up and hold open with your head.

Full body paint vs, decals, full queen slide out couch to bed vs a sort of twin size bed,

MUCH better heat and A/C. Built in inverter to power the TVs and Sat Dish and coffee maker if I can't run electrical power or the generator, like at Rufigio state beach which has no hookups and doesn't allow generators until like 10AM

Hardwood cabinets, (OAK) vs soft southern pine, the hinge screws don't seem to loosen up as much.

It cost 2X as much as the old one, new, you get what you pay for.

Ha! I should have worked Coachella, then. If your daughter sees another big-a$$ RV next to the main stage, handling all the worker injuries, that would've been my rig for the weekend(s). They've been building/preparing the venue for the past 2 weeks.
